「甲乙 丙丁」 乃古人 記錄植 物生長 過程的其中幾 個狀態 ： 「破土 萌芽 ，草 木初生 ，萬 物炳然 ，成長 壯實」 。修 畢藝 術文學 士課程 是 成長過 程的一 個階段 * 舉辦 一個展 覽正好 將畢業 生在這 階段的 狀 態展示。學院 如土壤 ，種 子播 於其中，藝 術家的 人生歷 程和經

to Infinity - is the tiile of the 2013 Bachelor of Vrts (Fine Art) Graduation Exhibition, organized by the graduates and |)rosente<l by HMIT University and Hong Kong Art School.

showc ases aiiworks in diverse niediums createfl by 50 graduates majoring in Ceramics, Painting. Photography and Sculpture.

The first letter of the Greek alphabet Al|»lia' is used synonym for beginning. In Alplia to Infinil) . the graduates take plants a niclaphor, likening their creativity to the seed of art froin which it will eventually grow into a powerful tref1 or hlossom as the most l)eautiful flow er.

The title Alpha to Fiifiiiity' projects a beautiful seem* where a seed is being planlerl into the soil. 當我 正整理 我的思緒預備 為本屆.「甲 乙丙 丁-藝 術文學士畢業 展」的展 覽目錄 撰文作 序時， 我想起 在二零 一零年 一月與 他們邂 逅 的情景 。身為 澳洲皇 家墨爾 本理工 大學的副教授 ，我有 幸可以 在密集 式教學 週教授 ，並 認識到一班 學生。 課程開 始不久 ，這班 學生對 藝術的 興趣和 投入， 令我留 下深刻 印象。他們對 學習充 滿熱誠和興奮 ，且持之以恆「最 重要 的是， 我仍記得在 不同的學習小組之間 、在 學習初期已構成的美 妙關係 •ÿ 結果到今天，仍 可維持 學院派的感覺和支持 ，川流 不息。 正值 此時， 我生命中有一 些轉變 ，隨 著我從 澳洲皇 家墨爾 本理工 大 學退休‧我來 到香港 藝術學 院任教 。這轉 變讓我 可以直 接參與 教授 和接觸 學生，親身見證他們 的成長與發展 ，直 到他們 的最後 一個 學期。 在學院攻讀藝 術課程好像一 個旅程 。學習過程 複雜，因為它連繫到 客觀發 現和主觀應用。這 樣的 關係就 像雙手 、頭腦和心的 合而為 一。 學術性 及實際 的技巧 ，加上 個人的 感性， 成為捉摸不定的視覺 藝術 內容。 要達到 有關學 習目標 ，需要學生的堅持 、決心、努力和 對自 己的強 烈信念 。此 藝術文 學士課 程充分 地印證 這班學 生的素 質， 他們的 旅程更是特別 豐盛。 展覽 主題為《甲乙丙丁》 是切合 不過的，因為它簡潔 地為這 趟學習 過程 的創意 演化下 了定義 。從一開始，在第一年遇到 猶疑的步伐， 引領到 後來的成熟和 世故，把整個 展覽推上高潮，令觀眾留 下深刻 印象，此旅程的尾聲，明 確地帶出雙手 、頭腦和心的合而為一。

As I assimilate my thoughts in preparation for writing this article for the BA(Fine Art) graduate catalogue I am reminded of my first encounter with tliis cohort of students in January 2010. rheii, an Associate Prÿressor with RM1I University I had the good fortune to teach a liumljcr of the students during the initial Intensive Teacliiiig at the begimiing of (he course. From the outset I was particularly impressed with the keen interest and dedication of the students. They were enthusiastic and excited about learning and all that it entuilcd. Above all else. I well remember the wonderlul bond that was iiiilially established within ibe group (hiring tliose (onnative few days, resulting in an ongoing sense of collegiality and su|)[)ÿrt that has rontiimed to flourish to this \ery da}. Since that time there have been many changes and, Collowing retiremeni from KM1T Uiiiversitv 1 now teach at the Hong Kong Art School. this cfiange 1 have had the good fortune to obsene their development first liancl and to have once again engaged directly will] iminv of tliem in a teacliiiig capacity throughout their tliiicl year of study.

Fonnal study in the fine arts is very much like a journey. The learning process is complex because it relates to both subjective discoveries and objective applications. The relalionsliip between tlie hand. l.iead and the heart is central t.o this Itwiiing process. A however a i IC:l practical skills, aligned witli. personal sensibility be an elusive mix in the visual art context. It reejuires perseverance, letenninatioii. Iiard work and strong sense of belief in oneself in order to acliieve the rele\ant learning objectives. I believe this to be an exciting process (hat suggests potential for further development. 今 次展覽 的作品 ，我利 用小野 花作為 創作的 主體， 讓它 代表著 人性不同價值的象徵 。作品 採用多 元及多

層次 的手法 ，揉合 了東西 方的繪 畫概念 與技巧 -以相 片加繪畫 、再 加以數 碼拼貼 ，並 借用傳統油畫 、國畫

和植物學的繪 畫元素 ，更 以中國 絲綢作 畫布， 希望創

造出 獨特、富戲劇 性和令 人意想 不到的 作品。

The value1! system can reveal both the pleasant and unpleasant sides of human behavior. In our assessment of value, are often uiiderstaiidahly concerned not only with whether soinetfiing is good or bad hut also with how good or had it is. “Sleep” is a “gate” between the conscious and the seious. When enter llie pass through this “gate”ÿ status of unconsciousness. \\ hat is reality and what is illusion? We camiol easily distinguish.

Essentially, sleep is a personal and private experience. In this project, sleep is 1.10 longer private. Tlumigh a series of interviews with a range of people. I recorded (with tlieir consent) their individual patterns of sleep that often iriclurled dreams, in order to documeiit their personal experience and to share it with others.

The physical response to dream sequences have been documented and re-delined tlirough the process of photography and

perforinance art.

既埤修 乂兼收 -?影 香港藝 術學院 與澳洲 皇家墨 爾本大 學合辦 的藝術 文學士 學位課 程，是本 地罕有 提供專 科主修 的大專 藝術教育模式 。對於既強調 理論又 重視技 術的當 代攝影 來?，專科主 修的好 處實在 非常明 顯： 無論在 講授和 實習上 ，專 科主修 所能夠 達到的 深度與 訓練， 都是沒 有主修 的課程 難以比擬的。 此外 ，我們的學員 在鑽研 他們專 科主修 的課目 的同時 ，也 需要學 習其他 各門藝 術的基 本概念 和技巧 ，以 及相 當程度的藝術歷史與 專 業知識 。在這 種既講 專門又 要廣泛 涉獵的教育模 式之中 ，學員 既可 以在他 們專科 主修的 課目打 下紮實 的基礎 ，同 時也能 參考其 他課目的美學 ，於是 不會固 步自封 ，反 之每 每有跨 越個別 媒體的 界限 而進行 多元化的藝術 製作。

‧今 年專科 主修攝影的畢 業學員 共有十 五位， 由於人 數較多 ，更好 證明了上述教 育模式 的優點 ： 有些學 員選擇 專心於 攝影， 有些則 朝向於 混合媒 體的藝 術方式 。最重 要的是 ，經 過三 年來專 注而又 兼收 的課程 ，他們依照 著各自 的性格 與喜好，都逐漸建立起了個 人 的興趣 與風格 ，足以 在這個 轉折左 右顧盼，並為 下一個階段開 展 腳步。 今 年畢業 的攝影學員部份已經 有了在 香港以 至外地的展覽 經驗， 有些還 獲得了 公開比 賽的獎 項對此教師們 都感到 欣喜， 也深信 其他 同學只 要繼續努力，都必定 能夠達到自己 的目標 。我想起一 個 嘲笑藝 術家的 笑話了 ：一位畢業數 年的藝 術學員請算命先生指 點迷津 ，算命先生占卜一輪之後? ： 1■閣下 事業的 頭五年 ，生活 恐怕不 會很如意哦！ •_! 年輕人 聽了也 不失望 ，就問道：「這 麼? 來 ，五年 後的運 程就會 好轉了 吧？」 算命先生答曰：「不 是的， 但閣下 已經開 始習慣 了 • 」 . 其實 ，名利 與地位 都只是 副產品 ，得 固可喜 ，未 得也無 所謂。 我 們在探 索過程 之中學 會謙卑 、領 悟到藝 術既廣 博又精 深的人 生，才 是最大的收穫 ，我願以此 與各位 共勉。

On top of their major studies, students are also required to pick up the basic *pt and technical skills of art making from history courses and professional other aiviis, together witli practice. Under such learning structure, students can build solid fouiulation in their major studies with the up support of aestlietic nutrition absorbed (roni other area, they will l>e restricting themselves with borders and tliis lead them to crossed-media arl crealion.

This year we are liaving 15 graduates majoring in F,hotograpliv.

Some of tliein forus on f)iire pliotography developmentÿ of fhcin try hard to bring mixed niecliuin elements into their phntographir creationÿ that is tlie fruitful result of tliis specific kind of learning process. Most important of all, after these three years of art learning, they have found nbjec ts of interesl and liave built up their personal style based on their cliaracters and preferences. This strengthened tlie graduates to take their next step in the journev of art.

Some of our graduates have already gained exhibition experience in Hong Kong and overseas, some liave even been awarded in dilfereni art competitions. We are pleased about this and bel ieve students will achieve their goals with their of passions in art. This reminds in-joke about artists.

在第二 次世界 大戰爆 發前的30 年 代期間 ，英 軍曾在 香港各 處建立

總 數超過 130 個的堡壘、炮台 、碉 堡等 。這 些軍事 建築物曾飽受 戰爭 摧殘或 及英軍60 年代 後撤回 軍營而 所棄置 。它 們是用 高強度 鋼筋及 混凝土 所建成 ，並 有?「巨 石」 特性的結構 以保護 戰鬥人 員及 其裝備 。這些 軍事遺跡亦是 古舊的 紀念碑 ，但 這紀念 碑沒有

銘文 ，取 而代之 的卻是 在建築 物上受 戰火遺留下來 的傷痕 ，受破 壞後所 暴露出 來的建 築結構 ，以 及在 建築物 裂縫上 生長出 來的植

物 ，並人 類其後 的多種 介入等 歷史留 下來的 記號。 我選 擇使用 200 發 7.62mm 軍用 機槍子彈箱作 為針孔 相機， 為這些

信 和藝術

Dedicated to promoting local art and culture and enriching the daily lives of Hong Kong people, Sino Group initiated 'Sino Art, project in 2006. The programme organises art exhibitions and activities at various Sino Group properties.
