ASIAN FUSION WITH PASSION

Photos David Toms: www.davidtomsphotography.com Tuk Tuk is a new Asian fusion restaurant in Nueva Andalucía serving Japanese, Thai… and all things eastern. Located next to the waterfall in Aloha Gardens, the setting couldn’t be more idyllic. When the owners of Tuk Tuk set about designing the restaurant, they wanted it to look decidedly contemporary, making optimum use of the natural elements around the restaurant: sunlight, vegetation and water. Even for those not dining outside, the floor-to-ceiling glass inside allows diners to fully appreciate the restaurant’s beautiful surroundings. The decoration has been well thought-out, with a comfortable lounge area at the entrance where you can savour an array of cocktails, spirits, wines and beers from their modern bar. In the dining area there are high and low tables, each one with its own individual faux capiz chandelier to make each table feel special. If al fresco dining is more your preference, there is ample seating outside, where you can dine next to the soothing waterfall under one of their authentic Thai parasols. The staff at Tuk Tuk are all extremely friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, and truly make you feel welcome. Philippine head chef Carl Kenneth Cabela has had

a wealth of experience in the industry, working in some of the most prestigious kitchens on the Costa del Sol. You can observe Kenneth’s culinary skills in their state-of-the-art open glass kitchen, watching as he meticulously brings his creations together. When you see the dishes come out of the kitchen, it is immediately evident how passionate and creative this young chef is. On meeting Kenneth, who is currently studying culinary arts, you cannot avoid noticing how positive and happy he is in his work. As he comments, “I love my family and I love my work. When I put this menu together, I created it from my heart.” The menu is well balanced, with sumptuous meat and fish dishes, curries, tempuras, sushi, noodles and much more. Each dish is vibrant in colour and assembled with precision, with generously sized portions available at very reasonable prices – a main dish ranging between just €12 and €16. Tuk Tuk is open every day of the week for lunch and dinner. Urb Aloha Gardens, Nueva Andalucía For reservations: Tel. (+34) 951 279 188
