City Creek Center includes the redevelopment of Block 75 and Block 76 in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah into a mixed-use development occupying the majority of the two 10-acre blocks. Hobbs+Black was the architect of record for the central retail and above for-rent residential apartments, the glass-enclosed skybridge connecting the two blocks, and the elevator and escalator lobbies in the below-grade parking garages. The retail tenants surround a large open air court on both blocks and line a main east-west retail pedestrian street that can be fully sheltered by a retractable glass roof.

This four-story, 80,000-square-foot design gallery blurs the lines between residential and retail, indoors and outdoors, home and hospitality. Guests can dine in a dramatic sky-lit rooftop restaurant with French antique black-and-white marble floors, 16-foot-tall birds of paradise, and trickling fountains. Enjoy a handcrafted coffee or glass of wine from the wine vault, pantry and espresso bar while you experience RH Interiors, RH Modern, RH Baby & Child, and RH TEEN. The estate gardens and rooftop park showcase collections of RH Outdoor.

The Mall at Green Hills was purchased by the Taubman Corporation in 2012 with the intention of revamping the facility. Hobbs+Black compiled a team to evaluate and work through the complexity of a the multi-year expansion and renovation. PHASE 1: NEW NORTH PARKING STRUCTURE The first phase of this project transformed a parking lot into a fourstory parking structure with the future ability to connect to the mall via bridges. PHASE 2: NEW DILLARD’S STORE (over new parking structure) The second phase consisted of the demolition of an existing one-story parking structure and replacing it with a three-story post-tensioned parking structure. PHASE 3: MALL EXPANSION Upon completion of the new Dillard’s store (phase II), the existing store was demolished to make way for a three-story parking structure. PHASE 4 4A - NEW CARRABBA’S RESTAURANT To make room for phase 4B, Hobbs+Black and team worked with Taubman and Carrabba’s to build a new prototype restaurant. 4B - RESTORATION HARDWARE GALLERY As part of their new gallery concept, Hobbs+Black will continue their relationship with RH to design and construct a new 60,000 sf gallery and restaurant. PHASE 5: INTERIOR & EXTERIOR RENOVATIONS To complete the work on the property, Hobbs+Black is working with Taubman to renovate the existing mall. PHASE 6: RESTAURANT ROW EXPANSION Hobbs+Black continued the renovations and expansions slated for the Mall at Green Hills. The project is slated to complete in late 2019.

Immediately adjacent to the hospital campus is a 17 acre parcel which extends to the major street intersection of Woodward Avenue and 13 Mile Road. This Master Planning effort considers redevelopment of that site: Removal of the shopping center and replacement with approximately 500,000 square feet of mixed-use development in a series of buildings. The facilities are organized to the major street intersection and provide for a view corridor of the entire medical campus. Anticipated facilities for the development include. >> A series of multiple facilities that are flexible for retail/mixed use

ranging from 18,000 – 42,000 square feet >> A 100 suite hotel >> Plaza and park facilities for outdoor events >> Multi-use Ambulatory Care and University Teaching facility –

300,000 square feet The concept will ultimately strengthen the Beaumont brand and provide for a wellness environment interlaced with the adjoining neighborhoods.

The Mall of San Juan is a contemporary two-level regional mall with 650,000 square feet of leasable space anchored by a 100,000 square foot Saks Fifth Avenue and a 138,000 square foot Nordstrom. The project also included the construction of three independent parking structures. As architect of record, Hobbs+Black worked with Taubman to create a vibrant and rich shopping environment that responds to the local culture. A roof top dining terrace with supporting lease space provides space for shoppers to enjoy the Caribbean breeze while the two main shopping levels organically flow from each end of the center. As the first upscale regional shopping center in the Caribbean, the mall is strategically located near the international airport and only minutes from the historical old town and cruise ship port.

The Mall at Partridge Creek is a new open-air regional shopping center located in Clinton Township, Michigan. The center is approximately 612,000 square feet and houses three anchor stores as well as 85-90 stores and restaurants. As an open air, outdoor lifestyle center, the mall was designed and built to provide a park-like atmosphere. A number of elements were included to contend with Michigan’s changing seasons and sometimes harsh conditions. The extensive paver system, a focal point of the mall, incorporates a snow melt system. A 30-foot fireplace provide a place to warm up, and wide canopies provide additional shelter from the elements. Bocce ball courts and a children’s play park provide opportunities for recreation among the shopping center. Three different fountains, including an interactive 85-foot pop jet fountain, provide ambiance as well as entertainment. Adding significantly to the park like environment, shoppers are encouraged to bring their dogs, with multiple dog comfort areas providing water and plastic bags.

This two-level, 740,000 square foot shopping center is located adjacent to the Tampa airport and features four upscale anchor stores, including Dillard’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Lord & Taylor’s. Additionally, the center features the Bay Street Village Retail entertainment area and a food court. Two new parking decks are also included in the project. Hobbs+Black worked closely with the corporate architects for the anchor stores to plan and schedule the construction of their new retail space. In addition, Hobbs+Black coordinated the activities of the subconsultants and specialty consultants working on this project. Furniture was chosen that allowed for flexibility and durability. Tech tables were strategically placed throughout the space, organizing the seating and giving customers convenient places to work and eat.

The Cherry Creek mall was originally constructed in 1990 and was then expanded and remodeled in 1994, all by Hobbs+Black. The most recent renovation project included demolition of the existing Saks Store and Mall Valet area. Redevelopment of the Saks building pad accommodates the construction of a new four-story 50,000 square foot Restoration Hardware “mini anchor,” in addition to 35,000 square feet of new retail gross leasable area. The primary focus of the project was to provide a new “front door” and face to the thriving neighborhood. Part of the project also included renovation of the old Saks court with upgrades to technology and lighting. A new large skylight and strategic seating arrangements provide a complementary addition to the existing mall celebrating its 25th anniversary.

The Detroit Shoppe, located in the Somerset Collection mall in Troy, Michigan, is a renovated retail space featuring products made in Detroit. The store was constructed within an existing tenant space at The Somerset Collection. Ever-changing displays featuring the city showcase unique items inspired by the colorful history of Detroit. Among these treasures are a Model T car, a Motown Recordsinspired recording studio, and a hallway lined with historical photos of Detroit. In a philanthropic effort, The Somerset Foundation operates the store, with all proceeds from the sale of merchandise going to Detroit non-profits and cultural institutions.
