Semester 1 2024 - 2025

HNC Computer Aided Architectural Design and Technology

Semester 1 introduced the learners to the architectural design process ; precedent research, site analysis, concept sketching and they produced proposals for a garden studio and bothy.

Using the Bothy Stores bothy and the Commonwealth Games Athletes Village house type as precedents the learners produced 2d orthographic drawings, construction details and 3d models in cad.

The learners also explored form in architectural design through history from classical architecture to C20th styles, presenting their research in a poster series.

Site visits to Material Source, CCG, BE-ST and a design workshop led by New Practice helped engage our learners with contemporary sustainable practice.

Semester 1 concluded with the presentation of the learners Residential Design projects.

The rural house proposals followed the design process of initial site analysis, precedent and sustainability research.

The learners prepared proposals from concept sketching to developed final proposals in 2d orthographic drawings, construction detailing and 3d model visualisations.
