Ce projet court avait pour mandat de transformer le conteneur en « cabin » (une extension de l’habitation inuit contemporaine), en seuil (un entre-deux tempéré) d’une habitation existante, ou en logement temporaire pour personne seule ou jeune couple. Le défi principal consiste en l’invention d’une nouvelle image pour le « système-matériau » qu’est le conteneur dans un contexte nordique/inuit. Il est l’occasion de tester des systèmes constructifs à petite échelle, en adaptant au passage des techniques et des savoirs traditionnels. This short project aimed to transform the container into either a cabin (as an extension to contemporary Inuit housing), a threshold (a transition space) for existing dwellings, or a temporary accommodation for a single person or a young couple. The main challenge is to invent a new image for the container, which is mostly regarded as a material or a system, in a Northern/ Inuit context. It is an opportunity to test constructive systems on a small scale, while integrating traditional techniques and knowledge.
