The NCC Cadets & NSS students of the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science attended a STATE LEVEL MOCK EXERCISE ON CYCLONE organized by the State of Tamil Nadu in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority and Ministry of Home Affairs on 2 September 2023. The chief guest of the event Smt Tara Sudhakar, Panchayat President of Padur panchayat. Representatives from the Fire Rescue Squad, Tamil Nadu Police, and doctors were also present at the event. They demonstrated different ways to save both humans and animals from flood Disaster. The Rescue Squad showed techniques for lifting an injured person and to perform rescues. These events were initiated by the first-year students as part of their outreach activities. Activities included packing and distributing groceries to tribal families, providing stationery kits to tribal children, expressing gratitude to drivers for their dedicated service, crafting and distributing flashcards for Anganwadi kids, producing and distributing over 1000 paper bags to raise awareness in markets, and preparing and serving lemonade to class students enthusiastically participated in these impactful events

On May 1st, 2024, our dedicated first-year students, as part of their outreach course, got creative for a sustainable future:. They crafted 1000 seed balls made of bamboo seeds, presented to Mrs. Thara Sudhakar, President of the Padur Panchayat. These seed balls will be dispersed to promote bamboo growth, boosting our local ecosystem. Additionally, 500 paper bags were handed over to the President of the Traders Association to raise awareness about reducing plastic use and achieving a plasticfree Padur.
