My efforts in the field of education, particularly technical education, have borne fruit and today the Hindustan Group is one of the largest and most sought after institutions in India. Similarly, in the field of Civil Aviation my contribution is by no means trivial. The Orient Flight School at Pondicherry, which turns out hundreds of world-class pilots every year, is a testimony to my passion for flying. I owe a great debt of gratitude to God Almighty for having given me this precious life and all the wonderful people around me who made me what I am.

Certified by the Australian Government “Maximum Power Point Trackable and Optimized IOT Based PV Charge Controller Using Machine Learning” Patentees Mr. K. Sakthidasan Sankaran, Assoc. The invention relates to improving the power point tracker and optimizes the internet of things based photovoltaic (PV) charge controller using the machine learning technique. As an approach, the four-sun technology based solar PV panel was taken and it was led to the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) system which includes the DC-DC (Direct Current) boost converter and Support Vector Machine (SVM) to predict the output voltage. It then uses the Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) for

maintaining a stable output voltage. To convert and further to check the stability of the voltage it is fed through the micro inverter which will invert the DC to AC (Alternative Current) voltage and produces a text using the Arduino micro controller within a range of 0 to 1023. Battery is also used as an alternative measure for making the inversion. As a result, the maximum power is tracked and the PV charge is controlled using a machine learning technique yielding high efficiency of voltage.

“Polyester Resin Matrix Flooring Tiles Using Various Micro Fillers” & “Polyester Resin Matrix Flooring Tiles Using Various Fine Aggregate & Micro Fillers”.

The Patents relates to polyester resin matrix mix using micro fillers such as fly ash, and ground granulated blast furnace slag-based flooring tiles; and, polyester resin mortar mix such as different gradation of fine aggregate and fly ash, ground granulated blast furnace slag as micro filler-based flooring tiles. The composition for a polyester resin matrix wherein the micro filler: resin (MF:R) and the percentage of resin content by weight of both the material taken together is optimized for

compressive strength.

Similarly, the composition of an unsaturated polyester resin mortar using two types of micro filler: resin (MF:R), coastal sand, eco sand as fine aggregate, wherein fine aggregate to micro filler ratio and percentage of resin content, micro filler content, fine aggregate content by weight of all the material taken together is optimized for compressive strength.

Both types require only room temperature curing and they reduce Co2emission.

“A Novel Counting Device for Domestic Pressure Cookers, Suitable for Hearing Impaired” The whistling of domestic pressure cooker indicates the status of the cooking food, and it requires constant observation to stay free from over or undercooked food and accidents that may occur if pressure builds up beyond limit. To aid hearing impaired people, “A Novel Counting Device for Domestic Pressure Cookers, Suitable for Hearing Impaired” is introduced

involving a counting mechanism tracking the number of times the cooker has whistled and display the status of cooking food.

The proximity sensor senses when the cooker weight is lifted and triggers the control unit. With every control unit triggered, the count is increased by one, and is recorded in the display unit.

GLOBAL WALKERS Hindustan takes tremendous efforts to improve the quality of the overall educational experience by designing curriculum to meet its Generation Z students’ aspirations and goals. The International Global Engagement Platform (iGEP) created by the Office of International Affairs provides international exposure for youth to engage them in global arena. With over 200 MoUs signed with international universities and college of repute, more than 10% of our students and 20% of staff opt for iGEP; and approximately 1000 students and 200 staff members have travelled abroad to Moscow, France, Germany, Turkey, Korea, Latvia, Italy, USA, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, Poland, and many more nations. We have also welcomed over 150 exchange students from partner universities. Our classes were structured through an online tracking system. Grouped in an international team, I opted for “Machine Learning for Redshift Estimation” and “Atmospheric Re-entry of Vehicles” which broke the horizons of conventional stereotypic learning. The Virtual Graduation Fashion Show of 2020 graduated batch of B.Sc. Fashion Design, Dept of Fashion Design & Arts, Razzle Dazzle, was conducted on 30 Oct. 2020 at HITS. Razzle Dazzle 6.0 showcased the vibrant collections of 30 students in beautiful colours and shades. The designer wears developed in wide range of white, dyed & printed cotton, silk, velvet, net, chiffon fabrics were showcased by the leading models. The show was curated and coordinated by the renowned Fashion Choreographer, Mr. Ganesh Gurung.

Wings 2020 Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s 89th Birth Anniversary celebrated as “WINGS AERO 2020” on 15 Oct. 2020, organized by Centre for Autonomous Systems of School of Aeronautical Sciences, in association with AeSI Chennai Branch and SAEINDIA HITS Aero Club observed Mr. D. Uma Maheshwar, Executive Chief Consulting Engineer, GE Aviation India; and Mr. H. N. Bhagavan, Former Mission Director, ISAC ISRO as guests. While Mr. D. Maheshwar delivered an invited lecture on “Co-creating the Future of Aerospace and Aviation”, Mr. H. N. International Social Business Students’ Forum

SAEINDIA’s Aerospace Forum, in collaboration with SAE International, conducted a premier Aerospace Conference AeroCON 2020 themed “Flying Through Turbulence…

Reimagining Aerospace Industry” on 5 & 6 November 2020. The conference aimed at bringing together Aerospace professionals to discuss the challenges and identify opportunities during and post COVID era for the entire Aerospace sector. A delegation led by Mr. Ashok Verghese, Director, Hindustan University, comprising 120 students and 18 faculty members represented Hindustan Group of Institutions.

Students deemed it an honour to hear Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Laureate and the "Father" of Modern Microcredit, deliver Keynote address on “Role of Students Zeroing Poverty, Unemployment, and Net Carbon Emissions” during the Virtual International Social Business Students’ Forum 2020 hosted by Daffodil International University, Bangladesh.

The event was organized on 26 Nov. 2020 in cooperation with Eurasian Universities Union and Eastern European University Association.

Team Kratos Ranks 3rd (Asia Pacific) in SAE Aero Design East 2020 Team "Kratos" comprising 14 members from the School of Aeronautical Sciences participated in the SAE Aero Design East 2020 under Advanced Class category which was organised at Florida Air Museum at Lakeland, USA between 6 and 8 Mar. 2020. The team secured 11th position at the International and 3rd in Asia Pacific level for the oral technical presentation. The team was fortunate to visit places like Lake Howard, Circle B Reserve, and Kennedy Space Centre.

The 13th season of BAJASAEINDIA 2020 was organized at NATRAX facility, Pithampur near Indore between 22 and 26 Jan. 2020. A whopping bulk of 282 teams accounting from IITs, NITs, RECs, and private engineering institutions registered; of which, 253 teams were qualified to manufacture their proposed design.

The Stalwartz E Racing team cleared several rounds such as Cost Evaluation, Sales Presentation, Technical Inspection and Electrical Inspection and Brake Trial Test and scored a 92 on 100 in the Cost Report presentation: so far the highest amongst other E Vehicles; and received a prize money of Rs.40000/- and the “Cost Report Award”—the first podium moment for the team that has raised hopes for further victorious endeavours.

The Project Expo for Final Year Students organized by HITSAA served as a platform to enable Alumni interaction with University, faculty & students. Conducted between 8 and 13 July 2020, the Projects were judged based on innovation and creativity within IDP as well as utility of the Project for Industry/Academic or Society. The Jury Members comprised of HITSAA Office Bearers, Alumni from Industry, and around 16 External Members representing various sectors. A total of 75 Teams comprising 150 students across 15 departments presented their Projects through 13 exclusive MS Teams.

AICTE Vishwakarma Awards 2019

As many as 105 teams from different institutes displayed their prototypes at the Regional Convention of AICTE Chhatra Vishwakarma Award 2019 convened at HITS under eight categories comprising Energy, Water, Waste Management, Farm and Flock, Livelihood, Crop Waste Management, Value Addition to Rural Handicrafts and Agroindustry and Land. Aiming at promoting innovative spirit and scientific temperament for holistic development of society, the event was scheduled on 18 Dec. 2019.

Monitor City Movement During Lockdown!

Drishyam is a project conceived by HITS and Orient Flights in association with Aeronautical Society of India to support Police Department in Crowd Monitoring, Surveillance and Control during the COVID-19 lockdown period. The project was headed by Mr. C.S. Karunakaran, Student Project Officer, Hindustan Innovation Factory, and Assistant Professor, School of Aeronautical Sciences, HITS. 12 Professional Aerial Photographers and 8 Drone Pilots based in Chennai were inducted for the project. DJI Inspire, DJ Mavic Pro 2, DJI Mavic Mini and DJI Phantom 4 were the drones used for this project. The 9-day mission witnessed a total of 53 hours and 30 minutes drone flying hours covering approximately 33 places in Chennai.

Another invention, just at the right time, from ANRO was the launch of Suzhali – a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR). Providing an affordable protection from harmful viral and bacterial infections, Suzhali aids medical frontline professionals breathe easy while working inside the Intensive Care Units for long hours. This system is uniquely designed for public health professionals to be used along with PPE, to fight against COVID-19 pandemic. Suzhali was tested successfully at the Chengalpattu Government Hospital inside Intensive Care Unit and Surgical Theatres for its functionality.

Reaching 5000 Families

Hindustan Group of Institutions jointly with Dr. K.C.G. Verghese Charitable Trust have expressed its oneness with the public during this pandemic and contributed immensely by its innovation and relief activities, worth over Rs. 1.3 Crore. Hindustan Covid Camps reached out to over 5000 families by distributing essential groceries like dhall, rice, oil etc., and medical kits that costs over Rs. 50 lakhs. The camp successfully was set at various places including Illalur, Kayaar, Venbedu, Idayankuppam, Thirupporur, Padur, Kelambakkam, Pudupakkam, Neelangarai and Injambakkam, Chennai, and all Chengalpattu districts.

HEAL THE WORLD

Hindustan Virtual Choir launched the rendition of the most popular Michael Jackson’s score “Heal the World” to mark the commemoration of the 80th birthday of its Founder-Chairman, Late Dr. K.C.G. Verghese. The Most Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan, The Metropolitan of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, Thiruvalla, launched the Hindustan Virtual Choir after the Worship on 21 June 2020. The choir comprised of Hindustan Group of Institutions’ students hailing from colleges and schools, and Alumni members from various parts of the world.

Assisting Stranded Migrants Reach Hometown Several northeast migrants were stranded in Tamil Nadu during the pandemic and had a tough time reaching their hometown. Mr. Eusebious T Chullai, Assistant Professor, School of Aeronautical Sciences, along with few volunteers and government officials took charge as Head Coordinator to assist migrants and aided in completing all the protocols laid down by both the governments. Mr. Chullai raised funds along with a Local NGO in Meghalaya to enable around 1500 stranded Meghalayans reach home safe. The valiant act was much appreciated and telecasted in Northeast TV channels.

CELEBRATIONS FIESTA 2020 The virtual Fresher’s Talent Hunt witnessed a frenzy outburst of talents exploring Music, Dance, and Martial Arts performance of several promising students.

Introduction of the Mascot, “Hindustan Super Singam”; Release of “Jerusalema”, Hindustan’s Dance Challenge; and Installation of Hindustan’s Student Council were some of the fascinating integral parts of Fiesta.

Christmas 2020 “Do not be afraid—we shall overcome!” is the message of Christmas—voiced His Grace the Most. Rt. Rev. Dr. Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan, Mar Thoma Church on delivering the Christmas message during the virtual Christmas celebration of Hindustan Group of Institutions on 19 Dec. 2020. The entry of Santa regaled everyone, and brought in joy and hope to look forward to the coming year.

Basketball Men's Team Basketball Women's Team The Basketball Women’s Team clinched the Winner title in the All India Inter- University Basketball Women’s Tournament organized by Association of Indian Universities at Haryana on 6 Jan. 2020. The team had also obtained Silver Medal in 1st Edition of Khelo India University Games 2020 organized by AIU in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Sports Authority of India (SAI) at KIIT, Bhubaneshwar from 22 Feb. to 1 Mar. 2020.

The Basketball Men’s Team entered till Quarter Finals and emerged in the overall Top 8 position in the All India Basketball Tournament organized by SRTMC Nanded, Maharashtra from 4 to 7 Jan. 2020.
