The redevelopment of Narendra Modi Stadium was completed in 38 months.

3,600 workers, worked day and night to complete the task before the deadlines.

Stadium was contrasted with 8,000 precast elements, which used more than 45,000 mt of cement.

CHALLENGES FACED BY ARCHITECTS •

The first challenge face by architects were the capacity of stadium, as the old stadium was of 49,000 capacity but after redevelopment the capacity will be of 1,32,000.

The second challenge was existing temple on site, which can’t be demolished.

To solve both the issues 2 tiers or twin bowl seating arrangement was provided.

The seating capacity of lower bowl is 55,000 thousand and upper bowl is 77,000 thousand.

Long Y-shaped columns have been provided on the outer side of upper bowl, which give support to both the tiers, as the columns are on outer side the view from inside will not be obstructed. 46
