Historic Manor Guest House changes hands

One of Lydenburg's historical buildings, Manor Guest House, has changed hands. This beautiful old house on the corner of Viljoen and Potgieter Streets, was built in the late 1920's by John William Goodman, who came to Lydenburg as a five year old boy in 1885. It is said that his father, Francis William Goodman, built nearly half of the town's historical houses. John and his teacher wife, Grace Isabella Clark, called their stately home Lynn Ville. Here they hosted many music and drama evenings and probably many a party as mayoral couple from 1926 to 1930. Caroline and Geoff Rogers saw the potential of this historical dwelling. They bought it in 1998 and converted the historical home into a landmark guest house in town - increasing the rooms to fourteen while retaining the ambience of years gone by. The new owners, Sheryl and Brian Karsten, are originally from Durban and Umhlanga where they owned, ran and managed hotels and restaurants - and their own estate agency. They moved to Mauritius eight years ago. Brian has a business and project management background and Sheryl has been groomed in the hospitality industry with a keen love of cooking. They are looking forward to their new life as Lydenburgers and extend a warm welcome to the people of the area.
Elizma Theron to perform for Rusoord
ELIZMA Theron will be hosting a Charity show in conjunction with the Wildevy Manne on 07 November to raise funds for the Lydenburg Rusoord old age home.
