Newsletter School News Matlock athletic club 36 hour virtual relay Sophie (9AM), Oliver (11RHM), Freya (8CC) and soon to be Highfields student Jacob (current year 6) at All Saints took part in a 36 hour virtual relay at the weekend to raise money for Ashgate Hospice. The event was run by Matlock athletic club of which all four students are members. Sophie is junior girls club captain and Oliver is junior boys club captain. The event started at 8.00am Saturday morning and finished at 8.00pm Sunday night. Over 70 members took part from junior through to veterans. Most runners had a 30 minute slot with some having a 60 minute slot. The event was continuous with the virtual baton being handed over at the end of each person slot and logged on Strava running app. Each runner ran in isolation near to where they live and had to run as far as possible in their 30 or 60 minute slot. The Highfields students all ran 30 minute slots and ran between 4-5miles in their 30 minute slot. Jacob started the event off Saturday at 8.00am and Sophie brought the baton home in the last leg at 8.00pm Sunday night. The event has been such a special thing for them to be part of and so far has raised over £6,000 in just over two weeks for Ashgate Hospice.
