7 Checking the raw water strainer
8 Cleaning the strainer
• Check daily whether there is any dirt in the raw water strainer.
• Close the seacock before removing the lid of the water strainer. • Clean the raw water strainer as often as is necessary, depending on the pollution of the waterways, but at least once every 6 months. A clogged raw water strainer will result in excessive temperatures or overheating of the engine coolant.

• Check the sealing between the lid and housing after cleaning and re-assembling the strainer. An improperly sealed lid will result in air sucked in by the sea water pump which again will result in overheating of the engine.
