SERVICING YOUR OUTBOARD MOTOR Engine Oil Level Check Check the engine oil level with the engine stopped and the outboard motor in the vertical position. 1. Unlock and remove the engine cover (p.77). 2. Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean. UPPER LIMIT

3. Insert the dipstick all the way in, and then remove it and check the oil level shown on the dipstick. 4. If the oil level is low, remove the oil filler cap (p.79), and add oil to reach the upper limit mark shown on the dipstick. Use the oil recommended on p.82. When you check the oil level with the dipstick, you might notice the engine oil appears milky or the oil level has increased. If you notice either condition, change the engine oil. See the following table for an explanation of these conditions.
