This chapter only provides the additional explanation on outriggers which is not described in the separate Crane Carrier Operation and Maintenance Manual. For detailed explanation of outriggers, see the separate Crane Carrier Operation and Maintenance Manual. During travel, stow the outrigger floats in the designated place. When extending the outriggers, attach each outrigger float to the bottom of each jack cylinder.

◆ Make sure to insert the lock pin after attaching the outrigger float.

Warning

Do not extend or retract an outrigger beam or jack unless it is in full view of the operator or signalman. Make sure all personnel and obstructions are clear from the path of the machinery. Unsuspected movement may occur.

Outrigger controls are equipped on both right and left sides of the vehicle. When operating outriggers, use the controls on either right or left side where you can watch the movement of the outriggers to be operated.

◆ The front jack must be properly extended before crane operation.

Caution

When leaving the controls, make sure that rocker switch “change-over of preselection outrigger beam/jack cylinder” is returned to the neutral position. If you attempt to extend or retract the outrigger beam with the switch on the opposite controls set to the “JACK CYLINDER” side, the jack cylinder may accidentally extend or retract.

WARNING

If the outriggers are retracted with the boom extended, the crane may overturn. Fully retract the boom and stow it on the boom rest before retracting the outriggers.

[NOTICE]

◆ If an outrigger or the front jack is stowed after registration of outrigger status, the registered status is erased. In this case, register the outrigger status again before starting crane operation.

◆ Retract the front jack before retracting the outriggers. If the outriggers are retracted the front jack left extended, the carrier chassis frame will be damaged.
