SECTION III - BASIC MACHINE OPERATION
3.13 EMERGENCY MEASURES AGAINST SUDDEN FAILURE OF MACHINE A. RELEASING LOCK FOR TRAVEL MOTOR While travel motors are at a standstill, they are hydraulically locked by the counter balance valve, and also mechanically locked by the brake system. When the machine becomes unable to travel due to failure on the travel motors, etc., it is possible to temporarily move the machine by means of releasing lock for the travel motor with removing the spool in the counter balance valve of the travel motor.
SAFETY BLOCK
CAUTION When di/re-assembling the travel motor, pay special attention not to allow invasion of foreign particles and dust into the travel motor. 1. Remove the shoes in accordance with “REPLACEMENT OF RUBBER CRAWLER SHOE”. 2. Apply safety blocks under the lower frames of left and right (travel motor side), and get down the machine which has been lifted up, then stop the engine. 3. Remove the travel motor cover (1) on the lower frame with loosening three capscrews (2). 4. Provide a container to receive draining oil under the travel motor, then disconnect the hoses. Since the draining oil comes out from the hoses and oil, receive it in the container. Put a stopper plug to all openings on the hoses.
NOTE: To avoid erroneous connection of hoses, put a mark, such as the port name, on each hose at their disconnecting. 5. Remove the socket capscrews (3) to remove the travel motor from the lower (crawler) frame. Gradually loosen the capscrews paying attention not to drop off the travel motor. 8-Socket capscrew (3): M10x20 6. Remove the plug (4). Plug (4): 27 mm of hex. size.
