CHAPTER 10. MAJOR ADJUSTMENT

2.ENGINE STARTING

•Be sure to advise your customers to start the engine of the TC tractor with the main shift and PTO in neutral and the clutch depressed without fail.

•The instructions to start the engine are mentioned in the operation manual or on the instruction label on the tractor. Be sure to abide by the instruction mentioned above when starting the engine, especially –after a long period of storage, –when there is sufficient space in front and rear of the tractor after having parked it, –when the tractor is placed on the platform of a truck.

That is, shift the main shift and PTO to the neutral without fail before starting the engine.

The TC tractor is equipped with the wet type multi-disk clutch for the main clutch. This type of clutch allows the tractor or the implement connected to the PTO to move a little when the engine is started with the main shift or the PTO shift engaged, which is normal.

This phenomenon is typical to wet type multi-disk clutches. At low speed (slower than 700 rpm) the clutch disks and separator plates contact each other and turn, which does not take place after the engine starts. Ordinary the brake as shown in the figure below works to prevent the clutch from turning unexpectedly following the separator plates when the clutch pedal is depressed.
