TRANSPORTING
SMV EMBLEM BRACKET (Fig.11-1)
The BU960 Forage Box is equipped with a Bracket for mounting a Slow-moving Vehicle (SMV) Emblem. This Bracket is located on the low center of the Box End.
NOTE: The SMV Emblem MUST be purchased locally.
Because of the variations in safety laws for different states and localities, it may be necessary to change the Emblem Bracket location. Your local GEHL dealer can help you to make the location change, if necessary.
Strips
The BU960 is also equipped with two Red Reflector Strips on the corners of the Rear Apron Guard and an Amber Reflector Strip on the front left corner of the Unloading Unit.
ACAUTION: NEVER exceed a maximum towing speed of 20 mph (32 kmh) when moving the Forage B-ox. When transporting a Forage Box on public roads, a safety chain should be used between the towing vehicle and the Drawbar of the Box Running Gear. In addition, if transporting at night, appropriate flashing and warning lights will be necessary. Obey all state and local laws, concerning towed equipment, on public roads.
Chapter12
Storage
At the end of the harvesting season, it is suggested that the following steps be performed:
4. Paint all the components from which the original paint has been worn to help prevent rust or water penetration of wooden parts.
5. Reorder and replace any required parts so that the Forage Box will be ready to operate at the start of the next harvesting season.
I. Remove all crop material from the floor, between the Apron Chains and the sides of the Box, from behind the Cross Conveyor Drive Chain Guard, from inside the Safety Clutch Housing and from the Cross Conveyor Apron.
2. Thoroughly lubricate all Forage Box grease fittings as indicated in chapter 8.
3. Clean and oil all. Drive Chains and Apron Chains with used motor oil.
6. If facilities allow, try to store the Forage Box in a dry place where it is NOT exposed to weather or livestock; this is especially true of a Box without Roof.
Protection Of Unpainted Surfaces
Apply a rust preventative oil or grease to the following unpainted surfaces:
Roller Chains and Sprockets
The Front Telescoping Drive Yoke, at the PTO
The Beater Clutch Shaft
The Apron Chain Clutch Shaft
Chapter13 Troubleshooting
NOTE: This Troubleshooting guide presents problems, causes and remedies beyond the extent of loose, worn or missing parts and is developed in consideration of the machine being in otherwise good operating condition. Refer to Index for Chapter and topic page references.
