Engine Identification

Engine Data Plate

The engine data plate provides important facts about the engine. The engine serial number (ESN) and control parts list (CPL) provide information for service and ordering parts. The engine data plate must not be changed unless approved by Cummins Inc.

The data plate is located on the fuel pump side of the engine, on the rocker housing. Have the following engine data available when communicating with a Cummins Authorized Repair Location. The following information on the data plate is mandatory when sourcing service parts:

With CM570

The CM570 is the fuel control module for the engine. The fuel control module data plate is located on the front of the fuel control module. The abbreviations on the data plate are explained as follows: • P/N = part number • S/N = serial number • D/C = date code

The Cummins engine nomenclature provides the data as illustrated in the graphics. NOTE: The following letters designate some of the different market applications for a Cummins engine. • A = agriculture • C = construction • M = marine • G = generator drive

Fuel Injection Pump Data Plate

The fuel pump data plate is located on top of the fuel pump. It provides data needed to calibrate the fuel pump.
