Maintenance_____________________________________________________ Every 6 months hydraulic oil tank
Change the hydraulic fluid in the feeder breaker oil tank. Clean all dirt and debris from around the fill cap, suction strainer, inspection cover, and drain plug. Remove the drain plug and allow the oil tank to completely drain. Remove the suction strainer inspection cover. Clean the cover and the mating surface. Remove the suction strainer, clean, and reinstall. Clean and reinstall drain plug. Remove the fill cap and add oil (Spec. 100-1) through the fill cap strainer until suction strainers are covered with new oil to avoid cavitating the pump with the power fill unit. CAUTION! The oil tank must contain a minimum of 20 gallons ( 76 liters) of oil to operate the power fill function. This is to ensure that the hydraulic pumps are not run dry, causing severe damage to the pump. Apply RTV silicon or Loctite Gasket maker to suction cover and install cover. Add oil Spec 100-1 as required via the power fill system until fluid is visible in sight glass. To operate the power fill (Fig. 49): 1. Clean suction hose attached to the hydraulic power fill motor, located on top of the oil tank. 2. Remove the suction hose plug and submerge the suction hose in the new oil supply. 3. Turn the handle of the ball valve to the open position. The handle should now be inline with the hydraulic hose to which it is attached. 4. Position the “TANK FILL/AUX VB”lever in the “TANK FILL”position. Oil from the valve bank will now drive the power fill motor and a suction force will be created in the suction line. Oil from the new oil supply will be drawn through the power fill motor to the hydraulic oil tank. 5. Once the tank is filled to the desired level, pull the power fill lever on the valve bank to the neutral (center) position. 6. Turn the ball valve handle 90° to close the ball valve.
