OPERATING CONTROLS This section provides the operator with the location and an explanation of the controls, instructions for machine operation. The operating controls for this mining shovel are all clustered on the operator's control stands and the air panel stand to the left of the operator's seat. The machine start-up controls are located inside the machinery house. The machine's operating motions - HOIST, CROWD, SWING, and PROPEL - are initiated by the operator using the two joystick controllers. These are the primary controls. The secondary controls are mounted in the control stands on either side of the operator. They are the necessary lights, switches, and pushbuttons to support the primary controls. Air pressure gauges and a crowd clutch regulator are located in the air panel stand. Also located here are buzzers and lights that signal the operator and announce faults in selected systems on-board. The machine controls have been positioned in the cab to provide the operator with comfortable operation of all the primary controls and easy access to all the secondary controls. The cab has been positioned and designed to give the operator a clear view of the digging and dumping area and the front end. The cab has a phone system connected to receivers near the entrance doors on the right and left wings inside the machinery house. This system provides communication between the house and the cab during testing or maintenance periods.
