LOAD HANDLING
WARNING: Load handling operations must always be carried out with strict adherence to the instructions given in this manual and to current legislation.
WARNING: The front axle must be locked when handling a load.!
For all load handling operations (tubes, concrete pipe connections, shoring material, etc.), the machine must be equipped with safety valves, and overload indicator, a load fixing point and a load handling chart corresponding to the type of machine and to its attachment. See “Load handling limits” . IMPORTANT: No other system or device may be substituted for safety valves when load handling. When handling loads, follow these instructions: -Park the machine on flat, firm, level ground and then lower the stabilizers and the dozer blade (if fitted) to the ground. -Use the load fixing point located on the connecting rod/bucket linkage pin, on the
Quick Coupler (optional,) or at the end of the dipper without tool and without bucket control. See “Load handling limits”. Do not weld hooks or lugs on the bottom plate of buckets or attach a sling or a chain to a clamshell. -Use slings and chains in perfect condition, suitable for the load to be lifted and equipped with a safety device to prevent accidental opening. -Check that the safety valves function properly. The pressure setting must be checked every 6 months, according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Consult your CASE Dealer. -Check that the load handling chart is in the dust jacket provided for it that it corresponds to the type of machine and to its attachment. See “Load handling limits” -Do not exceed the limits shown on the load hanling chart. To obtain a load handling chart, consult your CASE Dealer, giving the machine type, the weight of the counterweight, and the length and type of boom and dipper. -Make sure the overload indicator switch is switched on. See “Overload indicator switch” in the “Controls/Instruments/Accessories” Section.
-Make sure the “FINE” push button is in selected position. See “Control panel”, in the “Controls/instruments/Accessories” Section. -Do not allow anyone within the machine’s working area. -Make sure that the front axle locking switch is in the manual locked position. See
“Front axle locking/unlocking switches” in the “Controls/Instruments/Accessories”
Section. -Operate the controls smoothly to maintain full control of the attachment and machine. See “Load handling” in the “Job Site and Road Operation” Section. -Never place the boom and dipper locking valves (specific to certain countries) in the road travel position when handling or moving a load. NOTE: Load handling on CASE machines is in conformity with the EN 474-1 standard and the 474-5 standard relative to directive 98/37/EC.
