AIR CONDITIONING

AIR CONDITIONING (optional)

The air conditioning system components require regular servicing. Respect these service intervals to ensure the correct operation and full effectiveness of the air conditioning system. The air conditioning system contains a gas which is subject to strict regulations. Any failures in the system must be repaired as quickly as possible.

WARNING: Never perform any service work on the air conditioning circuit. Consult an approved specialist for any service work required.

NOTE: Use the air conditioning at least once a week, if only for a short time. See “Air conditioning controls” in the “Controls/Instruments/Accessories” Section.

Service specifications

Compressor lubrication.........................................Once a week or every 50 hours Clean the condenser.............................................Once a week or every 50 hours Inspect the compressor belt..........................................................Every 200 hours Inspect and clean the dust filter............................................................periodically Receiver/Dryer........................................To be checked every year by a specialist

Compressor lubrication

IMPORTANT: Never unscrew the plug located on top of the compressor, since this would discharge the system.

CD98D021 Using the air conditioning controls in the cab, start up the compressor to lubricate the inner seal. See “Air conditioning controls” in the “Controls/Instruments/Accessories” Section. NOTE: In cold weather, run the engine for a few minutes before starting up the compressor.

Cleaning the condenser

Tools required

-One corss-headed screwdriver

To access the condenser, you must remove the front panel with the fans.

CD99H001 Remove the retaining screws and then release the front panel.

Clean the condenser. -Dry dust: use compressed air. -Mud: clean with a hose. -Greasy deposits: use perchloroethylene. IMPORTANT: The use of trichloroethylene is strictly forbidden. IMPORTANT: Be sure to wear face protection when using compressed air.

CD98D028 Disconnect the fans and then remove the front panel.

Inspecting the compressor belt

Tools required

-One 17 mm wrench for hexagonal head screws

CD98D023 Check the condition of the compressor belt. Replace it if it is worn or damaged. Adjust the belt tension. IMPORTANT: After replacing the belt, make adjustments after 30 minutes running time. Check the belt tension. Adjust if necessary. Loosen the fasteners (1), tighten the belt and then retighten the fasteners (1). IMPORTANT: Belt tension should not be too tight (resulting in premature wear of the bearings) or too slack (resulting in premature wear of the belt).

CD98D025 Regularly inspect the condition of the dust filter. If necessary, clean it in a suitable detergent. Replace it if it is damaged. NOTE: To access the dust filter, remove the two wing nuts and then remove the front panel.

Receiver/Dryer

CD98D028 Never perform any service work on the receiver/dryer. Consult an approved specialist for any service work required.
