CD00B018 Remove the side hood, then remove the protectors. See “Replacing a battery” .

PG03613 Remove the plugs and check the electrolyte level in each battery cell. The level should be between 10 and 15 mm above the separators. Add distilled water, if necessary. Make sure the battery terminals are clean and coated with grease and that the cables are tightly connected.

WARNING: The electrolyte in batteries can cause serious burns. Batteries contain sulfuric acid. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Antidote: EXTERNAL:rinse with water. INTERNAL: drink large quantities of water or milk. Follow with milk of magnesia, a beaten egg or vegetable oil. Call a doctor immediately. EYES: rinse with water for 15 minutes and get prompt medical attention.

WARNING: A spark or flame can cause the hydrogen in a battery to explode. To prevent the risk of explosion, follow these instructions: - When disconnecting battery cables, always disconnect the negative (-) cable first. - When reconnecting battery cables, always connect the negative (-) cable last. - Never short-circuit the battery terminals with metal objects. - Do not weld, grind or smoke near a battery.

WARNING: Battery gas is explosive. Keep flames, sparks and cigarettes away from the battery. Proper ventilation must be provided when charging a battery or using a battery in an enclosed area. Always wear eye protection when working near batteries.
