ENGINE OPERATION
RUNNING-IN PERIOD
Your machine will last longer and will give better and more economical performance if you pay particular attention to the engine during the first twenty hours of operation. During this period: Warm up the engine before using it under load. Do not run the engine for a long period at idle speed. Check the instruments on the instrument panel frequently. Check the oil levels and coolant solution level frequently. During the running-in period, the following checks and servicing operations should be carried out in addition to those specified in the service schedule: AFTER THE FIRST THIRTY HOURS Check the tension of the rubber tracks. See “Tracks” in the “Maintenance/Adjustments” Section.
AFTER THE FIRST FIFTY HOURS Drain the oil from the engine. See “Engine” in the “Lubrication/Filters/Fluids” Section. Replace the hydraulic oil filters. See “Hydraulic system” in the “Lubrication/Filters/Fluids” Section.
AFTER THE FIRST FIVE HUNDRED HOURS Drain and replace the oil in the travel motors. See “Travel motors” in the “Lubrication/ Filters/Fluids” Section.
