You are the owner of a Case Uni-Loader that has been designed and built to exact quality and safety standards. This Uni-Loader conforms to current safety regulations (see “Official Justifying Documents” on next page). However, this does not exclude all risk of accidents. That is why it is essential to observe elementary safety rules and precautions.

Read this manual carefully before operating the Uni-Loader. Instructions concerning safety, operation and maintenance, have been developed to permit safe service and operation of this Uni-Loader. Refer to the Detail Index at the end of this manual for locating specific information about your Machine.

The attachments and equipment available for use with this Uni-Loader are intended for general earth moving purposes, handling, boring, ditch digging, etc. If the Uni-Loader is to be used for handling loads, make sure the machine is suitably equipped for this type of work. The Uni-Loader must be fitted with safety valves and an overload indicator and all legal requirements must be strictly observed.

Do not use this Uni-Loader for any application or purpose other than those described in this manual. If the Uni-Loader is to be used for duties involving the use of special attachments or equipment other than those approved by CASE, it will invalidate the CE certification. Any person making unauthorized modifications is responsible for the consequences.

For certain applications, the Uni-Loader must undergo regular inspection. Consult your CASE dealer.

This machine has been designed and built according to the state of art, and meets or exceeds current safety regulations and standards. However, this does not completely exclude the risk of accidents. It is therefore essential to follow the basic safety rules and procedures.

The strict execution of the instructions provided in this manual will prevent accidents during machine use, maintenance and repair operations.

These instructions will only be effective if the machine receives proper maintenance. Any defects or anomalies must be repaired immediately.

Do not use the machine for other applications than those which are described in this manual.

In the event of a particular problem, requiring some intervention or application not described in this manual, contact your CASE dealer immediately.

Most accidents involving machine operation and maintenance can be avoided by following basic rules and precautions. Read and understand all the safety messages in this manual, and the safety signs on the machine before you operate or service the machine. See your dealer if you have any questions.

• Do not operate this machine and do not do any maintenance work if you have not had the appropriate training and read and fully understood the instruction and warnings in this manual.

• Before starting the engine make sure you know the location and function of all the controls. Using the wrong control can cause serious injury or death.

• Be aware of and familiarize yourself with the safety decals on this machine.

• Make sure you know how to escape from the machine in the event of an emergency such as over-turn or the main exit being unusable.

• Avoid loose fitting clothing, loose or uncovered long hair, jewelry and loose personal articles.

• Different jobs will require different protective equipment. Items such as hard hats, protective shoes, heavy gloves, reflector type vests, respirators, and ear protection can be required. Know and use the equipment that is required before you start the job.

• Be prepared for emergencies. Always have a first aid kit and a good fire extinguisher available. Know how to use them to address emergencies.

• Know the hand signals used on your job. Follow the instructions of the flagman, signs, etc. See Hand Signals in this manual.

• Check that the rear door, guards, and covers are installed correctly and closed.

• Foreign material or grease on the steps and hand rails can cause an accident. Keep the steps and hand rails clean.

• Know the rules, laws, and safety equipment necessary for transporting this machine on a road or highway.

• Before you operate at night check that all lamps illuminate.

• Before you operate in cold weather, check cold start procedure.

• Always face the machine and use the hand rails and steps when getting on. Do not rush.

• Before you start each day, walk around the machine and check for oil or fluid leaks.

Replace all broken or missing parts and do the required lubrication and maintenance as shown in this manual. Clean all trash and debris from the machine.

• Remove all loose objects from the operators area and from the machine. Loose objects can jam controls and cause accidents.

• Before you start the engine, always fasten the seat belt and pull the seat bar down.

See Operator Restraint System in this manual. Operate the machine only from the operators seat.

• Engine exhaust fumes can cause death. If you operate this machine in an enclosed area, use good ventilation to replace the exhaust fumes with fresh air.

• Make sure all persons are away from the machine and give a warning before you start the engine.

IMPORTANT: Never get on or off a moving machine.

• Adapt your operating techniques to the site (conditions, slopes, obstacles, surroundings). See Job Site Operation section.

• Familiarize yourself with the machines capabilities and the working space required.

• Various operations on different sites and in different weather conditions require different protective clothing; helmet, gloves, safety shoes, reflective jacket, mask and ear plugs. Know how to use the equipment before you start operations.

• Do not jump from the machine - you can get injured.

• Operate all the controls gradually for smooth operation.

• Check all controls in a clear area and make sure the machine is operating correctly.

• Do not allow other persons to ride on the machine. Other persons can fall or can cause an accident.

• Dust, fog, smoke, etc., can decrease your vision and cause an accident. Stop the machine or decrease the speed until you can see everything around you in the work area.

• Contact with high voltage power lines, underground cables, etc., can cause serious injury or death from electrocution.

• Before you drive or operate in an area with high voltage lines or cables, tell the power or utility company what you are going to do. You must HAVE THE POWER DISCONNECTED OR KEEP A SAFE WORKING DISTANCE from the lines or cables. You must know the safe working distance from the high voltage power equipment and must know any local safety codes or regulations that apply to the job site.

• Electrical cables, gas pipes, water pipes, sewers, or other underground objects can cause injury or death. Learn the location of underground hazards before you operate your machine in a new area.

• If this machine rolls over, you can be injured or killed. You must make a judgment if weather, road, or earth conditions will permit safe operation on a hill, ramp, or rough ground.

• Stay away from hazardous areas such as ditches, overhangs, etc. Walk around the work area before you start and look for hazards.

• Be alert and always know the location of all workers in your area. Keep all other persons completely away from your machine. Injury or death can result if you do not follow these instructions.

• Operate the machine controls from the operators seat only.

• Do not operate at high speed with bucket raised to high positions.

• Do not operate at high speed with bucket blade obscured to prevent striking hidden objects.

• Before you operate equipment in any area where your visibility is reduced, such as next to a building, etc., always install a guard rail and warning signs to keep other persons away from your machine.

• DO NOT operate the machine while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

• When you park the machine and before you leave the operators seat, check the seat bar for correct operation. The seat bar, when raised, engages the parking brake and locks the loader controls. See Testing the Seat Bar in this manual to check for correct operation. Lower the attachment to the ground. Stop the engine and remove the key. Follow the instructions on Parking the Machine in this manual for parking the machine.

• If the loader lift arms must be raised for servicing the machine, always install the support strut before you service the machine.

• Always face the machine and use the hand rails and steps when getting off. Do not rush and do not jump from the machine.

• Battery acid causes severe burns. Batteries contain sulfuric acid. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Antidote - EXTERNAL: Flush with water. INTERNAL: Drink large quantities of water or milk. Follow with milk of magnesia, beaten egg or vegetable oil. Call a doctor immediately. EYES: Flush with water for 15 minutes and get medical attention promptly in all cases.

• When the battery electrolyte is frozen, the battery can explode if, (1) you try to charge the battery, or (2) you try to jump start and run the engine. To prevent the battery electrolyte from freezing, try to keep the battery at full charge. If you do not follow these instructions, you or others in the area can be injured.

• Hot coolant can spray out when the radiator cap is removed. To remove the radiator cap, let the cooling system cool, turn to the first notch, wait until the pressure is released, then remove the radiator cap. You can be scalded if you remove the cap too quickly.

WARNING: DO NOT weld to wheel or rim when a tire is installed. Welding will cause an explosive air/gas mixture that will be ignited with high temperatures.

This can happen to tires inflated or deflated. Removing air or breaking bead is not adequate. Tire MUST be completely removed from the rim prior to SB134 welding.

WARNING: Explosive separation of the tire and/or rim parts can cause injury or death. When tire service is necessary, have a qualified tire mechanic service the tire.

FIRE OR EXPLOSION PREVENTION

• Sparks or flame can cause the hydrogen gas in a battery to explode. To prevent an explosion, do the following: 1. When disconnecting the battery cables, disconnect the negative (-) cable first.

When connecting the battery cables, connect the negative (-) cable last.

2. When connecting jumper cables to start the engine, use the procedure shown in this manual on Booster Battery Connection.

3. Do not short circuit the battery posts with metal items.

4. Do not weld, grind, or smoke near a battery.

• Sparks from the electrical system or engine exhaust can cause an explosion and fire. Before you operate this machine in an area with flammable dust or vapors, completely ventilate the space before operating the machine.

Make sure the fire extinguisher is serviced according to the manufacturers instructions.

• If a fire extinguisher has been used, always recharge or replace the fire extinguisher before operating the machine.

• Remove all trash or debris from the machine each day. Especially check the engine area and exhaust system.

• If you grind, or use a cutting torch on the machine, always remove the starting fluid container from the machine (if equipped). Use compressed air to remove any ether fumes from the area.

• Starting fluid (ether), if equipped, can cause injury or death. Do not breathe starting fluid vapors. Wear face protection when you remove or install a starting fluid container.

• If the machine has an oil, fuel, or hydraulic leak, always repair the leak using a safe method and clean the area before operating.

• Keep the cooling system clean and maintain the correct coolant level.

• Make sure that you do not store oily rags or other flammable materials on the machine.

• Check the electrical system for loose connections or frayed insulation. Repair or replace the loose or damaged parts.

• Before using a cutting torch on the machine, clean the area to be repaired.

If by accident the front of the machine becomes blocked so that you cannot get through the front of the machine, you can exit through the rear of the machine after removing the rear window. Do the following.

SEAT BELT: The seat belt keeps you within the protective area of the ROPS when you operate the machine. Refer to Seat Belt use in this manual for the correct operation and Torque Specifications for the seat belt and the belt mounting fasteners.

SEAT BARS: The seat bars are an additional restraining device and arm rest. When in the raised position the seat bars automatically engage the parking brake and prevent the loader and bucket control movement. Before You Leave the Machine

Before you start the engine or operate the machine, you MUST unlock the seat bars by pushing both seat bars completely down. When the seat bars are down, the loader controls are free to move and the parking brake is released.

Before you leave the machine, you MUST lower the loader arms, then move the seat bars completely up. To release the seat bar levers, pull the release levers located toward the rear of the seat bars. Stop the engine and remove the key.

When both seat bars are up, the loader controls are locked in neutral and the parking brake is engaged. Check both seat bars for correct operation each day before you leave the machine. See Testing the Seat Bars in this manual to maintain proper operation.

If all systems are normal, the green Systems Normal lamp is illuminated. If any yellow warning lamp illuminates, stop at the end of the day or shift and correct the problem. If any red warning lamp illuminates, stop the machine and correct the problem immediately.

1. FUEL LEVEL GAUGE: This gauge indicates the amount of fuel in the fuel tank when the key switch is in the ON position. The symbols indicate full fuel tank, half full fuel tank, or empty fuel tank. The bottom lamp will start to flash when there are 4.3 UK gallons (19.6 litres) of fuel remaining in the fuel tank. From this point on the machine can be operated for approximately 2 hours before the fuel tank is empty.

2. SYSTEMS NORMAL INDICATOR LAMP (Green): This lamp illuminates and stays illuminated during machine operation, or until one or more of the following condition occur; low engine oil pressure, high hydraulic fluid temperature, low alternator output, system voltage below 11 volts, high engine coolant temperature.

3. HYDRAULIC FILTER WARNING LAMP (Yellow): This lamp illuminates when the engine is started and the hydraulic fluid is cold, or when the engine is running and the hydraulic filter is in need of service. If the lamp is illuminated after 15 minutes of machine operation, or if the lamp illuminates during machine operation, stop the engine and service the hydraulic filter. If the lamp illuminates, it will not affect the Systems Normal indicator lamp and warning alarm.

5. ENGINE TEMPERATURE WARNING LAMP (Red): This lamp illuminates when the engine is running and the engine temperature is too high. Then, the warning alarm will actuate and the Systems Normal indicator lamp will go out. Stop the engine and check for the problem immediately.

6. BATTERY WARNING LAMP (Red): This lamp illuminates and the warning alarm sounds when the battery voltage falls below 11 volts. The Systems Normal indicator lamp will go out.

8. SEAT BELT WARNING LAMP (Red): When the engine is started, this warning lamp illuminates for five seconds, the warning alarm will actuate for five seconds and the Systems Normal indicator lamp will go out for five seconds.

9. HYDRAULIC TEMPERATURE WARNING LAMP (Red): This warning lamp illuminates when the engine is running and the hydraulic fluid temperature is too high.

Then the warning alarm will actuate and the Systems Normal indicator lamp will go out.

Stop the machine and check for the problem immediately.

10. CHARGE PRESSURE WARNING LAMP (Red): This lamp illuminates when the engine is running and the transmission charge pressure is too low. Then the warning alarm will actuate and the Systems Normal indicator lamp will go out. Stop the machine and check for the problem.

11. AIR FILTER WARNING LAMP (Yellow): This warning lamp illuminates when the engine is running and the air filter requires service.

NOTE: If a problem is indicated, correct the problem. After correcting the problem, start the engine. The warning lamps will go out, the warning alarm will stop and the Systems Normal indicator lamp will illuminate.

7. HOURMETER: The hourmeter shows the total hours of engine operation in hours and tenths of an hour. Use the hourmeter to measure the intervals between maintenance.

After the recommended time, turn the key switch to START to start the engine. When actuated, the glow plugs heat the air in the engine. d. START - Turn the key to this position to actuate the starter motor to start the engine.

7. Following the recommended glow plug warm up time (see page 44), turn the key switch to START. Release the key as soon as the engine starts.

IMPORTANT: Do not operate the starter motor more than 30 seconds at one time. Let the starter motor cool for three minutes before you actuate the starter motor again. While the starter motor is engaged, white or black smoke must be seen at the exhaust pipe. If no smoke is seen, check the fuel supply.

8. If the engine starts and stops, do not actuate the starter motor again until the starter stops turning.

9. After the engine starts, check the instruments to make sure the indications are correct. Run the engine at about 1/4 throttle until the engine coolant is warm.

Engine

Wheel Nuts

During the first 20 hours of operation for a new machine, or if the engine has been rebuilt, adhere to the following procedure:

When the machine is new or when a wheel is removed for service, check the wheel nuts every two hours of operation until the nuts remain tight. The torque for the wheel nuts is 60 to 70 pound-feet (85 to 95 Nm).

2. Keep the engine at normal operating temperatures.

3. Do not run the engine at idle speeds for long periods of time.

Hydraulic Filter Replace the hydraulic filter after the first 20 hours of operation if the machine is new or if a major component is replaced.

See Hydraulic Filter Service in this manual.

Drive Chains Adjust the drive chains after the first 20 hours of operation if the machine is new or if the drive chains are replaced. See Drive Chains in this manual.

Preventing Damage to the Hydrostatic Transmission in Cold Temperatures IMPORTANT: Below 32°F (0°C), run

the engine at 1/2 throttle for 10 minutes with the transmission controls in the NEUTRAL position. Do not operate the hydraulic cylinders rapidly or against the stops rapidly until the hydraulic oil is warm. Increase the engine speed to 3/4 throttle and move the transmission control levers to 1/2 forward. Move the machine at no load for one minute or until the transmission runs normally.

CAUTION: If the machine must be parked on a hill, position the machine sideways to the hill and block the wheels.

1. Park on level ground and lower the loader attachment to the ground.

2. Run the engine at 1/2 speed for two or three minutes, if the engine has been working at full load. This procedure will cool the engine parts evenly.

3. Pull out the engine stop control and turn the key to the OFF position (1825), or turn the key switch to OFF (1825B) to stop the engine.

Do not run the engine at idle speed for long periods. This can cause a low operating temperature. Low operating temperature can cause formation of acids and deposits in the engine oil. It is recommended that you run the engine at full throttle when operating conditions permit and when safe.

4. Remove the key, raise the seat bars, move the loader controls until locked and release the seat belt. Always use the hand rails and steps when leaving.

NOTE: The parking brake is engaged automatically.

IMPORTANT: When you operate a backhoe, it is recommended that you run the engine at 1/2 throttle.

6. Select the correct tires for the conditions, that is; wide or narrow, pneumatic or non-pneumatic.

Prior to Loading

Observe all work site rules and local ordinances governing loading and transporting the machine. Ensure the hauling unit meets all safety requirements before loading the machine.

1. Put a block at the front and rear of the trailer or truck wheels.

2. Carefully back the machine slowly onto the trailer.

3. Lower the loader attachment to the trailer, stop the engine, and remove the key.

4. Put a block at the front and rear of each machine tire.

5. Use straps to fasten the machine to the trailer at the points indicated by tie down decals.

6. Measure the clearance height of the machine and trailer or truck. Post the clearance height in the cab of the truck.

When lifting this machine with a crane, use a four leg sling with a 7,000 pound (3175 kg) maximum rating with a 39 degree sling angle. Each leg of the sling must have a minimum length of 6 ft. (1.8m).

1. Know and use correct crane signals.

2. Inspect the lifting equipment daily for damaged or missing parts.

3. Keep all other persons out of the area when lifting. Do not move the machine over the heads of other persons.

NOTE: It may be necessary to use spreader bars when lifting the machine with a crane. The length of the spreader bars should equal the width of the canopy roof. One bar should be installed between the right and left front sling legs, while the second bar should be installed between the right and left rear sling legs.

Cold weather conditions require specific procedures. During these conditions, your machine will require special attention to prevent serious damage.

Cold weather maintenance will extend the service life of your machine.

1. BATTERY AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: Clean the battery and make sure the battery is at full charge.

NOTE: A fully charged battery at 0°F (-17°C) has only 40 percent of the normal starting power. When the temperature decreases to -20°F (-29°C), the battery has only 18 percent of its power remaining.

3. DIESEL FUEL SYSTEM: Check with your fuel supplier for the correct cold weather fuel. Diesel engine power will be reduced if wax particles are in the fuel filter.

Cold temperature operation can cause moisture condensation in the fuel tank.

Keep the fuel tank full and check for water frequently using the DRAIN WATER FROM THE FUEL SYSTEM instructions in this manual. Failure to remove water from the fuel may result in an inoperative engine and damage to the fuel system.

4. COOLING SYSTEM: Check the coolant mixture before you operate in cold temperatures. A mixture of 50% ethylene glycol and 50% water must be used in this machine. This mixture is used if the lowest ambient temperature is above -34°F (-37°C).

If the ambient temperature is lower, adjust the mixture to 60% ethylene g l y c o l a n d 4 0 % w a t e r. I t i s recommended that ethylene glycol and water be used in your machine all year.

If distilled water is added to the battery when the temperature is below 32°F (0°C), charge the battery or run the engine for approximately two hours.

This procedure will prevent battery freezing.

Inspect the battery cables and terminals.

Clean the terminals and spray a coat of battery terminal protector to prevent corrosion.

2. LUBRICANTS: Use the correct viscosity oil in each component. As an example: SAE 30 engine oil at 32° F (0° C) increases the starting load by about 250 percent. Make sure you follow the recommended oil and filter service as shown in this manual.

1. Loosen the mounting bolts (1) on the two upper bucket mounts. Loosen the bucket wedge stop block bolts (2).

5. Use a soft faced hammer to hit the upper mounts. This will move the upper mounts down into the V of the Tool-Tach.

2. Move the machine forward slowly and raise the bucket or attachment.

The V ends (3) to the Tool-Tach must engage the upper mounts on the bucket.

6. Tighten the eight bolts to a torque of 65 to 85 pound-feet (88 to 115 Nm).

7. Use a soft faced hammer and lightly hit each wedge stop block to move the wedge stop block up. Tighten the mounting bolts to a torque of 25 to 35 pound-feet (34 to 47 Nm).

3. Install the two bucket mounting pins (4) and retaining pins (5).

4. Push the upper mounts (6) on the bucket downward into the V on the Tool-Tach. Tighten each bolt to 20 pound-feet (27 Nm).

It is important to remember that lifting operations with the backhoe attachment are subject to strict legislation. Your machine must be fitted with the following statutory safety equipment.

Warning Lamp for Air Filter Restriction

Air Cleaner Element Replace the air cleaner element after three washings or after the element has been in the machine for one year.

You must service the air filter elements if the air filter lamp illuminates when thengine is running. It is recommended that you service the elements at the end of the day or at the end of your shift. Stop the engine and lower the loader attachment to the ground before you service the elements.

Cleaning the Element

. Use a water hose without a nozzle with pressure less than 40 psi (275 kPa, 2.8 bar) to remove all soap from the element.

Check the dirty element for damage and check the rubber seal on the end. Push the rubber seal with your finger. If the rubber seal feels hard and does not move back to original shape, discard the element.

1. Remove the loose dirt with compressed air at 30 psi (207 kPa, 2.1bar) maximum. Hold the nozzle at least one inch (25 mm) from the element.

5. Allow the element to air dry. If you use a drier, do not exceed 160OF (71OC) and make sure the air is circulating in the drier.

6. Use a light and inspect the element for holes or splits in the pleats. Check for damage to the metal parts and rubber gasket. Replace the element if damaged.

This mixture is used if the lowest ambient temperature is above -34°F (-37°C).

Fuel Storage

If you keep fuel in storage for a period of time, you can get foreign material or water in the fuel storage tank. Many engine problems are caused by water in the fuel.

Use No. 2 diesel fuel in the engine of this machine. The use of other fuels can cause the loss of engine power and high fuel consumption.

Keep the fuel storage tank outside and keep the fuel as cool as possible.

Remove water from the storage container at regular periods of time.

In very cold temperatures, a mixture of No. 1 and No. 2 diesel fuels is temporarily permitted. See the following: TRIM THIS EDGE

NOTE: See your fuel dealer for winter fuel requirements in your area. If the temperature of the fuel lowers below the cloud point (wax appearance point), wax crystals in the fuel will restrict the fuel filter and cause the engine to lose power or not start.

Replacing the Fuel Filter

Diesel Fuel Conditioner is available from your Case dealer. Follow the instructions on the can. The conditioner will:

Replace the fuel filter every 500 hours of operation or if you see a large amount of black smoke coming from the exhaust pipe.

1. Clean the fuel injectors, valves and manifold for increased service life.

You must remove air from the fuel system if (a) the fuel tank is empty, (b) parts in the fuel system are removed for service, or (c) the machine is kept in storage for three months or more.

4. Remove the rubber seal from the stud on the filter head.

5. Use a cloth and clean the gasket surfaces of the filter body.

6. Apply clean engine oil to the new rubber seal.

7. Install the rubber seal on the filter head stud.

8. Apply clean oil to the gasket of the new filter. Do not fill the new filter with fuel before installation.

9. Turn the filter clockwise onto the filter body until the filter gasket makes contact with the filter body. Continue to tighten the filter with your hand for 1/2 to 3/4 turn.

Checking the Hydraulic Filter Condition

Turn the dipstick counterclockwise and remove. If the fluid level is below the ADD mark on the dipstick, add fluid to raise the fluid level to the FULL mark.

1. Start the engine and raise the temperature of the hydraulic oil to operating temperature (the side of the hydraulic oil reservoir will feel v e r y w a r m ) . To i n c r e a s e t h e temperature of the oil do the following:

a. Increase the engine speed to full throttle, roll back the loader bucket, and hold the control lever in this position for 5 seconds.

3. Remove the filler cap.

b. After 5 seconds, move the control lever to the NEUTRAL position for 10 seconds.

4. Add oil to the reservoir until the oil level is at the FULL mark on the dipstick.

c. Repeat this procedure until the side of the hydraulic reservoir feels very warm.

6. Install the filter. Use your hands to tighten the filter 1/2 turn after the filter O-ring touches the filter head. DO NOT use a strap wrench to tighten the filter.

1. Lower the bucket (attachment) to the ground and stop the engine.

2. Clean the area around the filler cap(1) and hydraulic filter (2) with cleaning solvent.

7. Start the engine and run the engine at idle for approximately 1 minute.

6. Remove the hydraulic fluid level dipstick. Clean the breather on the dipstick in solvent and blow dry.

7. Install the drain plug.

Inflating the Tire Always have a qualified tire mechanic service the tires and rims on this machine. It is recommended that you have this mechanic inflate the tires. To prevent accidents, always use a restraining device (tire inflation cage), correct equipment, and correct procedure. Explosive separation of the tire can cause serious injury.

2. Use an air hose with remote shut- off valve and a self locking air chuck.

3. Stand behind the tread of the tire and make sure all persons are away from the side of the tire before you start to add air.

E. Move the seat bars to the down position.

F. Check clearance between lock plate and loader control lugs.

Control lugs must be able to move freely.

12. Tighten the axle adjusting bolt just tight enough to hold the axle housing in place. Tighten the lock nut.

Clean the spark arrester muffler after every 100 hours of operation. Use the following procedure.

1. Pull out the engine stop control to prevent the engine from starting (1825 only). On the 1825B disconnect the wire from the fuel shutoff solenoid.

Check the battery regularly for dirt, corrosion and damage. Dirt, mixed with electrolyte or moisture on the top of the battery, can cause a discharged condition in the battery. Use one of the following methods to clean the battery.

1. Use Case Battery Saver, part number M20376. Follow the instructions on the container. This cleaner does not need water.

2. Use baking soda or ammonia and flush the outside of the battery with water. If you do not have Case Battery Saver, use other special cleaners to prevent corrosion on the battery terminals.

3. Spray the battery terminals with battery terminal protector. Do not use grease.

1. Wash the machine.

2. Lubricate the machine at all grease fittings.

3. Paint any areas where the paint has been damaged.

4. Move all hydraulic controls to relieve any pressure in the hydraulic circuits.

5. Drain the fuel tank.

6. Put approximately 1.7 U.K. gallons (8 litres) of diesel flushing oil in the fuel tank. Run the engine until the exhaust smoke is blue-white.

7. Drain the flushing oil from the fuel tank.

8. Put one teaspoon of Shell Oil Company VPI crystals in the fuel tank.

12. Cover the exposed cylinder rods, and valve spools and any other bare metal parts with Case Rust and Corrosion Preventive (Part Number B17510).

13. Charge the battery. Remove the battery from the machine and put the battery on a wooden pallet in a cool dry area. If possible, keep the battery in a building where the temperature is above freezing (32°F, 0°C). Make sure the battery is clean.

14. Cover exhaust outlet.

15. Do periodical checks on protection.

Look for corrosion NOTE: Check the battery periodically for the correct electrolyte level. Test the electrolyte with a hydrometer. When the hydrometer reading is near 1.215, charge the battery.

Chain Compartments

9. Change the engine oil and replace the oil filter.

10. Drain the cooling system. Leave the drain valves open and do not tighten the radiator cap. Put a Do Not Operate tag in the cab.

1. Drain and flush both chain compartments.

2. Put new oil into each chain compartment.
