Fredericksburg will elect officers at Nov. 1 meeting SAN ANTONIO – Fredericksburg Lodge will meet Tuesday, Nov. 1. A covered dish meal will be served. Members are asked to bring a meat or vegetable dish or a salad along with a plate and utensils. Contact Hans Enderlin at 8951343 or Windy Duecker at 9972983 for more information. Officers for 2017 will be elected including president, vice president, secretary-treasurer and one trustee. Margaret Priess and Geneva Tatsch are serving on the Nominating Committee. Contact one of them if you are interested in serving in one of these positions. Reservations will be accepted at this meeting for the Christmas dinner. Deadline for submitting a reservation is Nov. 20. Members will not be called this year as they have in the past. A salad supper was served at the Oct. 4 meeting. After the meeting, members played games. Denise Usener, executive director of the Golden Hub Senior Center, was on hand to accept a donation from the lodge. She stated that during the past year Golden Hub volunteers delivered meals to more than 41,000 individuals

President Hans Enderlin gave a report on the Leadership Summit held in San Antonio on Sept. 24. Members planned to visit Knopp I Nursing Home on Friday, Oct. 21, in observance of Make a Difference Day. They planned to play games with the residents. Scheduled to participate were Katherine

Cornehl, Windy Duecker, Lola and Hans Enderlin, Margaret and Edgar Priess and Geneva and Elgin Tatsch. A moment of silence was observed in memory of Robert Hartmann who passed away Sept. 15 and Barbara Barnes Crenwelge who passed away Oct. 3. Windy Duecker and Geneva Tatsch won the attendance prizes. – Reporter

Seguin holds memorial service, welcomes new members SEGUIN – A memorial service was held as part of the September meeting of Seguin Lodge. Remembered were lodge members who passed away between Sept. 1, 2015, and Aug. 31, 2016. Lodge President Vernelle Jones and Vice President Roy Merz honored them with a candlelight vigil. Those remembered include Randy Haug, Michael Hohertz, Jerry Magouirk, David Lee Reiff, Opal Schwarzkopf, Martha Vogel, Stanfield Volkmann Jr., Vernon

Schultz, Virginia Lee Nokes, Elmer Jachade, William Vordenbaum, Robert Lee Markgraf, Walter Ulbricht, Charles Roensch, Kathy Wooster, Paul Stollewerk and Nora Ellen Naumann. Salvador Nieto and Angela Alexandra Garza. Thanks go to Gary Granzin of Granzin’s Meat Market for the gravel donated for the front parking lot. Granzin’s and the Seguin Lodge Hall are adjacent to one another on Highway 90. Elizabeth Bode King’s name was drawn for the progressive pot but she was not present to win. That makes the October drawing worth $95! The lodge meets the third Wednesday of the month. – Tammy Beutnagel
