COMFORT – Online registration for Hermann Sons Life Camp is now open exclusively for junior members (policy holders).
An email has been sent to all returning campers with registration details. Camp-age junior members who have not attended camp before will receive registration information by mail.
This year all 2025 summer camp sessions will be coed and held at the Hilltop Camp site. Also new this year, camp will be open to non-members. Non-member registration will begin in March.
Hermann Sons Life Camp is a sleepaway camp for children ages 7-14 located in Comfort. Campers participate in a variety of fun and challenging activities under the caring guidance of our trained staff.
Three different sessions are offered: a one-week program, a mini session for younger campers and an extended 10-day session.
The 2025 registration fees are as follows: full week for members, $595; full week for non-members, $995; Mini Camp, $320; Mini Camp for non-members, $520; CITs, $320; 10-day session fees – member, $995; non-members, $1,495. All registration fees include a $20 Camp Store voucher. During the registration process, an installment payment plan is offered if registration is completed by April 30.
Once the camp member code has been received by email or mail, register at hermannsonslife.org. Information on returning campers is already stored in the new CampBrain registration system. The new registration platform streamlines all required paperwork into one location making it an easier process for parents.
For returning campers, the same email address used in the previous system can be used and a new password will need to be created. Please review all information for accuracy. New campers will need to create a new account with a username and password and provide all required information by following the CampBrain system prompts.

SEGUIN – TruLight127 Ministries is a vocal advocate for foster children. It provides emergency shelter and long-term placement for children and teens who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.
The TruLight Youth Village is the first emergency shelter for foster kids in Guadalupe County. It provides a safe, stable home for the foster children of Guadalupe County and surrounding areas as well as children from Bexar County. The TruLight Youth Village sits on more than 10 acres in Seguin. TruLight127 has five homes finished and furnished with a capacity to sleep 45 children and/or teens.
TruLight127 Ministries’ Mission
“Our Mission is to change the world one child at a time, by shining truth and light into their lives.”
TruLight127 Ministries was originally founded in June 2015 by Sondra Ajasin. The Ajasin family started with humble origins, running the program out of their garage. Sondra began the
process of making TruLight127
Ministries not only a place of support for youth and families, but it would also be where families interested in fostering and adopting could come and complete requirements to become licensed
To date, TruLight127 Ministries has found foster families for over 1,500 children and completed 287 adoptions.
TruLight127 Ministries’ Vision
“Our Vision is to put James 1:27 into action and to do it with a spirit of excellence. We want to provide children with an environment that is full of love, nurture, support and structure. Thus, preventing them from becoming a statistic of hopelessness. We will empower and equip individuals, communities, and churches to move in God’s call in James 1:27. By doing so, we believe we can
change the course of their lives into becoming productive citizens of society.
We seek to do this by:
• Being their voice in a world that shuts them out.
• Supporting them with tangible services to meet their immediate and long-term needs.
• Empowering children and youth with the life skills, resources and self-esteem to pursue their dreams.
• Providing support to the families that care for them.
• Most importantly, we strive to make sure our yes is strong. Standing with them even in the hard times, walking through the dark times WITH them, and shining truth and light into their lives.
“TruLight127 Ministries could not do what we do for foster children without the support of our volunteers and donors. Not everyone can foster or adopt, but

Thank you for being a Hermann Sons Life member and Happy New Year from the Hermann Sons Life Sales Team!

Executive Camp Director
I’m very excited about Hermann Sons Life Camp (HSLC) in 2025! We have spent the past few months coming up with an exceptional summer camp program.
This summer we will be operating a coed summer camp on the Hilltop site. Our goal as always is to provide our campers with a safe, caring and enjoyable summer camp experience.
The daily program has not changed from the one we have provided for the last five years. We offer an elective, free-choice summer camp program for our campers with more than 25 daily activities from canoeing to field sports, high ropes to crafts. There’s something for everyone!
While it is important to keep campers busy from morning until night, the daily schedule provides dorm time where the magic of making friends really takes place!
Schedules are adjusted during inclement weather or extreme hot weather days so rest-periods and cabin time can be extended.
Morning activities
Every morning, campers participate in three activities. During registration on CampBrain, you will select six activities. Before your child attends camp, your child will be assigned three out of these six activities.
Afternoon electives
Campers choose their afternoon electives on a daily basis. Many of the morning activities are offered within the elective program. Crafts are held every afternoon. Projects include lanyards, friendship bracelets, beading, ceramics, leathercrafts and tie dye.
Other activities offered include dodgeball, frisbee, mosaics, Magic: the Gathering games, improv classes, line dancing, martial arts, scavenger hunts, color guard (flags), hiking, manis and pedis, Gaelic football, netball, cricket, fishing, kayaking, golf, zip line, giant swing, climbing and more!
Dorm (cabin) staff
We are very excited that we will be seeing an incredible number of
returning staff this summer. This summer all of our dorm staff will be returning staff members. As you know, that means everything to our campers as the majority of these returning staff members are former campers and CITs. Staff consistency really makes camp special and provides an environment conducive for making friends and having fun!
This summer, like every summer, the camper to staff ratio will follow the American Camp Association guidelines. All staff undergo criminal background checks prior to the start of camp and they are reinterviewed by the executive camp director.
All staff members’ names are cross-referenced with the NSOPW, and they participate in an on-line staff development program prior to their arrival followed up with on-site staff development.
All staff must also participate in and successfully complete a Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Training program.
The dorm counselors are the most important piece of the summer camp puzzle.
Senior staff
In addition to our dorm staff, each dorm is supervised by an experienced, returning staff member called a senior counselor. The senior counselor’s job is to supervise the dorm counselors and ensure the campers are having a fun, safe summer camp experience both within their dorms and at their activities. We’re very excited to see Shepard, Megatron, Big Wig and Crockett returning in this role. Applejax will head up the CIT program.
This summer, Panic and Coconut are assuming the responsibilities of assistant directors and will oversee the day to day running of the summer camp program. Webster and Gunner will be codirectors.
We have spent a lot of time blending the best of the previously separate boys and girls camp program together. Keep an eye open for some informational Zoom meetings for parents in

NEW
BRAUNFELS
– Howie and Beau have been busy! They’ve been enjoying endless games of tug-of-war with their new Christmas toys and ropes. Lately, we’ve been finding all sorts of “treasures” they’ve taken into the yard – couch covers, towels, blankets, pillows, you name it! We’ve been taking them for pup cups whenever we can, and they absolutely lose their minds with excitement when they realize it’s time for a ride.
Beau has become quite the master at sneaking into rooms he’s not supposed to and loves to drag his newfound “treasures” into the yard. While we’ve done our best to keep them out of the den, (one of the rooms that’s supposed to be off limits) Beau has managed to figure out a way every chance he gets. Credit where it’s due – his determination is impressive!
A few nights ago, Beau woke us up at 2 a.m. with his barking, and we found him alerting us to the closet. We didn’t hear anything and chastised him for the barking. We should have listened to him as the entire shelving system had collapsed on
my side of our closet! Perhaps it’s time for that much-needed closet makeover!
Howie and Beau want to introduce you to their beautiful friend, Lola. She’s a total sweetheart who’s eager to please and can’t wait to find her forever home. Lola has the most charming, fun expressions and is absolutely irresistible. She loves to snuggle and will make sure you know just how happy she is to see you.
If you’re interested in meeting Lola or any of the other pups at HOTK9, please email hotk9res-
cue@yahoo.com to schedule a visit. HOTK9 is a 501(c)(3) no-kill canine shelter dedicated to rescuing pups in need. For more information and to view the amazing dogs available for adoption, check out Heart of Texas SPCA/HOTK9 Rescue on Facebook or visit www.heartoftexasspca.com. You’ll also find details about their adoption events, where you can meet more wonderful pups. Keep in mind that HOTK9 Rescue is a volunteer-run organization, so email is the best way to reach them.
Beautiful Lola needs a forever home. She’s a snuggly, loveable girl. To meet Lola or other pups needing home contact HOTK9.

JOURDANTON – Jourdanton Lodge presented membership pins and the Humanitarian of the Year Award during the Christmas party held on Dec. 12.
Special guest Vice President of Sales Teresa Saathoff presented 60-year membership pins to Vice President Robert Weide and to President Valerie Craig.
Valerie presented the Humanitarian of the Year Award to Diana G. Leal.
Diana is the president of the nonprofit organization TriCity Road Warriors (TCRW). She initiated/created the “Beautiful You Project” which is a heartwarming initiative aimed at helping high school students, homeschoolers and special needs students find suitable attire for prom events. This community-driven project collects gently used clothing donations from local families, ensuring that students have access to a wide range of beautiful options without a major financial burden.
From January through May, attire is displayed at the American Legion Post 436 in Jourdanton so students can browse through
hundreds of outfits available. Diana is there to assist the students. If students find something they love, they can take it home for free.
The “Beautiful You Project” emphasizes community support, self-esteem, and inclusivity, creating a positive environment where all students can feel special and valued during their important milestone events.
Diana’s efforts have extended beyond the immediate community, attracting attention from people across the county and even from other areas of the state. Total strangers have reached out to her, motivated by the project’s mission, to offer donations and volunteer assistance. Diana’s success with the “Beautiful You Project” has sparked interest from others who want
to replicate the initiative in their own communities.
Overall, Diana’s commitment not only enriches the lives of students in need but also strengthens community bonds and inspires a culture of kindness and support.
To donate to the “Beautiful You Project” contact Diana at 830-399-9151 or email: lealdg@ yahoo.com to coordinate the donation.
