Branding initiatives launched SAN ANTONIO – Through the years, this organization has been known by many names – Hermann Sons, Sons of Hermann, Hermann Sons Life Insurance, Hermann Sons Fraternal Insurance, the Order of the Sons of Hermann in the State of Texas, and the list goes on. “Being known by so many names makes it hard to market the organization,” Grand President/CEO Buddy Preuss explained. “And without good marketing, it is even harder to increase membership and improve our position in the life insurance industry.” To address this issue, Grand President Preuss put together a working group and tasked that group with rebranding the organization. Rebrand-

ing is a process that involves looking at all aspects of the organization – the name, the visual identity, who we are and what we do and how we explain that to members and non-members. One of the first steps was to decide on a single name. “We wanted a name that would honor our roots, identify that we sell life insurance and that our organization is about the whole life,” Communications Director Kathie Ninneman said. Consumer research on Hermann Sons Life was positive, so after much discussion and consultation with people inside and outside the organization, the group decided that Hermann Sons Life would be the name by which we will be known.

Another key step in the process was to create a new visual identity – a new logo. A San Antonio design firm was hired to create the new logo. The new logo appears at the top of this page and will be featured prominently in future marketing initiatives. The Grand Committee has approved both the name Hermann Sons Life and the new logo. The new logo is bold and simple with the intention of showing strength, endurance and longevity.
