SAN ANTONIO – Hermann Sons Life is excited to announce that Eugene Zollinger has been named the new President and CEO. His first day on the job will be Feb. 1. Interim President and CEO Samantha Schulmeier made the announcement about the selection made by the Board of Directors. “The Board of Directors and I have been working diligently to fill the vacancy with someone who can bring a fresh set of eyes and vast business knowledge to lead us in carrying out the mission of strengthening community through financial protection and service while offering top notch programs to our members,” she said in a letter sent to lodge leaders and committee members. “We all have a vested interest in our great organization and want to see it continue to thrive for generations to come.” In accepting the position,

Zollinger said, “I am absolutely humbled, excited and honored to become the next President and CEO of Hermann Sons Life. I love the mission, values, history and the opportunity before us and we will continue building upon those. We will increase revenue, strengthen the current membership and drive new membership growth to ensure our organization’s success moving forward.” Zollinger has lived in New Braunfels for the past 11 years. He is currently a franchise owner with Goosehead Insurance. He and Alison, his wife of more than 20 years, have five children. He was born in Logan, Utah. He grew up in Bryan where he attended Bryan High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in international studies from Texas A&M and his MBA from the University of See ZOLLINGER, Pg. 2

Chili cook-off set for March 9 in Comfort COMFORT – It’s almost Chili Cook-off time! The annual Retirement Home Chili and Bean Cook-off will be held March 8-9 in Comfort. Proceeds from the annual event benefit the Retirement Home Scholarship Fund. The event starts Friday night with a party for the cooks in the Home’s Recreation Room. The cook-off begins the next morning with registration. Cost to enter is $15 for

amateurs and $20 for CASI sanctioned cooks. The entry fee for beans is $10. There will be cash prizes for the top three bean entries. And there will be showmanship awards presented in the CASI and amateur divisions. Something new has been added this year. There will be a vendors market. Cost for a space is $25. Vendors must provide their own equipment, canopies,

tables and chairs. All fees are non-refundable because they will benefit the scholarship fund. No electricity or running water is available. Set-up time is 7-9 a.m. on Saturday morning. The vendor form and payment must be submitted by March 1. The vendor form is available by contacting the Home at 830-995-2724. Chili cooks are welcome to bring their RVs.
