Harmonia will hold memorial service March 14 SAN ANTONIO – After members enjoyed the tamales and chili prepared for the third annual Harmonia Lodge Chili CookOff the Jan. 10 meeting began. During the March 14 meeting, the annual memorial service will be held. The lodge will provide corned beef and members are asked to bring a side dish or dessert. Games may be played after the meeting in the Rathskeller. President Matt Kraus installed the elected and appointed officers including Albert Ranzau, Steve Prewitt, Bill Richard, Brad Dietrich, Mike Beam and Mike Gumpp. Bill Richard reported that the
New Year’s Eve parking proceeds for the Home Association was about $4,000, as there was a large crowd downtown. Members mourned the passing of several members including Eugene E. Asbell, age 90, on Nov. 17; Jesse J. Slocum, age 77, on Nov. 29; Jerry P. Sarro, age 71, on Dec. 6; and Marvin R. Siebert Jr., age 92, on Jan. 1. Celebrating birthdays were Brad Dietrich and Bill Bernhard and Genevieve Kraus, wife of member Jerome Kraus. Steve Prewitt and wife Julie celebrate an anniversary in January. es. Angelina Kretzschmar displayed the iron cross donated to the lodge by the Texas Rangers to replace the one stolen from Harmonia Cemetery. She also informed members that the deed to the cemetery had been found. The chili cooks who prepared their individual recipes for the meal were Brad Dietrich, Mike Beam, Albert Ranzau, Bill Richard, Steve Prewitt and Charles Kretzschmar. Mike Beam’s chili was chosen as the best by a randomly selected panel of judges. Bert Ranzau took second place, and Steve Prewitt was third. – John Hoog

Dallas Lodge reviews schedule of 2019 activities DALLAS – Dallas Lodge held its first meeting of 2019 on Jan. 27 at the hall. New President Clint Holmes welcomed members and guests and thanked them for attending. He said he was honored to serve members of this 128-year-old lodge. He then installed the elected and appointed officers to their positions. Past President Andy Schellenberg congratulated Clint and
presented him with the lodge charter and gavel. Andy, who will now serve as vice president, thanked members for their support during his four years as president and asked them to support Clint. The lodge’s schedule for 2019 was presented. There will be meetings on March 17, July 28, Sept. 22 and Nov. 17. No meetings will be held in February, April, June, August, October and
December, unless needed. Special events will include volunteer days at CitySquare Food Pantry in observance of Join Hands Days on May 4 and in observance of Make a Difference Day on Oct. 26. A public anniversary pin presentation and luncheon is scheduled for May and the Christmas luncheon will be held Dec. 15. The March 17 meeting begins at 1 p.m. The Home Association’s
annual general meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Members are asked to attend both meetings. Members approved a donation to the Retirement Home in memory of Past Grand President Leroy Muehlstein. Glenn Marvin reported Kelly Miller had been in the hospital and is recovering in a rehab facility. Andy Schellenberg reported that daughter Julie Harper was
in a Tyler hospital during the Christmas holidays. Thanks go to Margaret “Schatzie” Owens and Jean Ernst for providing lunch before the meeting. Members enjoyed meeting Julia Robinson, the granddaughter of Brigitte Robinson and niece of Eva Day. Clint Holmes won the attendance prize. – Reporter
Cibolo Lodge will observe St. Patrick’s Day March 7 CIBOLO – Cibolo Lodge did not meet in February because that is Rodeo Month in San Antonio. The lodge’s officers did meet Jan. 27 and planned the schedule and meal menu for the year. A regular meeting will be held March 7 with a green theme for sides and desserts in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Games will follow and the quarterly cash drawing
will be held. The meal will be build your own sandwich. April 4 is a regular meeting with sausage on the menu. There will be an Easter egg decorating contest. Bunco Night will be held May 2 celebrating Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. The main course is Italian with the men responsible for the desserts.
June 6 is a regular meeting with a quarterly cash drawing for all in attendance followed by games. Brisket is the main course. On June 14 the lodge will hold its annual Flag Day ceremony at Cibolo City Hall where cookies and water will be available. Aug. 1 is a regular meeting followed by games. Fried chicken
is the main course. Sept. 5 will be a regular meeting and will include a memorial service if needed. Pot roast is on the menu and there will be a best homemade pie contest. It will also be quarterly cash drawing time for those in attendance. Oct. 3 is a regular meeting with a Halloween costume contest and a pizza dinner.
Nov. 7 is a regular meeting with election of officers, quarterly cash drawing and best homemade cookie contest. Christmas party tickets will be on sale. Dec. 7 is the Christmas party at Bexar Social Club. Everyone is invited to attend all meetings. – Tracy Campos
Kerrville installs officers, discusses upcoming activities KERRVILLE – Kerrville Lodge held its bi-monthly meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the Wells Fargo Bank Board Room. Members enjoyed hot wings, queso and tortilla rollups. Officers were installed and members discussed upcoming
events including Join Hands Day in May. President Tony Straube is going to pursue a social event for March at the Retirement Home in Comfort. Members will be receiving one more postcard with information on the meeting dates for the re-
mainder of the year. A card will not be sent for each meeting due to the increased cost of postage and the time involved in preparing the cards for mailing. The next meeting will be held April 3 in the Board Room of the Wells Fargo Bank, 301 Junction
Highway, Kerrville. The meal will feature ham, potato salad and other side dishes. All members planning to attend are asked to bring a side dish or dessert. The meeting will be held in the bank’s Board Room. The other meetings this year
will be held June 5 and Oct. 2 at Wells Fargo Bank and Aug. 7 at Acapulco Restaurant. The Christmas party will be held Dec. 6. Check the monthly newspaper articles for any changes to upcoming meetings. – Juanice Grona
