Airbnb Calling for a Head of Diversity and Belonging Posted on 01/09/2015 by Henrietta Hedberg

Airbnb is looking for a head of diversity and belonging, are you interested in the executive level position? The company is looking to develop and expand the diversity within the workplace. This is a result to a written release of the demographic breakdown of its employees. The report showed a lack of diversity, particularly a lack of women, African Americans and Hispanics. This wasn’t a big surprise to anyone. Airbnb certainly has the most original job title, but isn’t the first and hopefully not the last company to tackle the diversity issue. Facebook and Google have also begun takingmeasures to tackle diversity. Both companies already have a head of diversity, although they are looking to expand. The lack of diversity within the tech industry is one of the most pressing issues today. Dropbox and Autodesk are also on the look for diversity heads. Hopefully there lies greater diversity and more belonging in the workplace in the future. It can be considered that companies like Google, Facebook and Airbnb have a social obligation, or responsibility to pave the way. Dealing with diversity is a very positive, the question now is whether the workforce actually becomes more diverse, or it will only look so from the outsiders perspective.
