FASHION TTTRENDS: THE BOMBER PUFFER JACKET FEBRUARY 8, 2016 / JESSE SHAW / 0 COMMENTS
The Bomber Pu er Jacket The bomber puffer jacket has proven to be da bomb this winter season, challenging our puffer jacket perceptions everywhere. The wind is gushing outside the homes of most, and old winter coats are making their way out of the darkest corner of the closet. What once may have seemed to be an immaculate choice, great design, great price, great colour and most importantly, a great fit – may not be. Outerwear seems to have two spectrums, the first one is great design and fit, and the second is warmth. It appears to be but a myth to find outerwear that promises both. The streets are filled with people who have taken on the pressing issue of ugly outerwear, and said yes, I want a warm jacket! And let’s face it, they are certainly not regretting it, at their warm state. But what if there was a compromise? Warm meets great design? Chanel’s puffer jacket featured in Harpers Bazaar this month is cute enough to make the foxiest fashonista change her mind. Looking into puffer jackets that will not let its owner resemble the Michelin guy, is a difficult task. But fear not, there are bomber puffer jackets that make fashionistas look like very fabulous Michelin men. Adidas, American Vintage, and Diesel justify the hype fashion should get into over the puffer bomber jacket, with a cost at a much lower price than Chanel. Knowing when to opt for warmer outerwear choices comes at different times for everyone. For some it may happen in November, for others in February when a second shower of cold snow starts to settle in.

It is however important to stay warm, catching a cold is more likely with great design, and hypothermia is an actual thing according to WebMD and Eddie Bauer, the creator of the puffer jacket. Bauer created the first puffer in the 1930’s upon a dreadful meet with the cold, and began selling his new invention called The Skyliner in 1936. This serendipitous discovery was made on a fishing trip in Washington, when Mr Bauer realized his wool jacket had become waterlogged, and he was set up for hypothermia. Even though the fashionistas out there are not frequently attending fishing trips in Washington, or can afford the Chanel bomber puffer jacket, it is certainly worth to invest in a bomber puffer jacket this season.
