Concert in the Park Results

HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT CONCERT IN THE PARK RESULTS AUGUST 27, 2022 HERBERT, ROWLAND, & GRUBIC INC.

Hempfield Township “Dream Box”: Several community members who attended the Concert in the Park were asked to write their visions for Hempfield Township on an index card and place them in the box. It was emphasized that their responses could cover anything from Parks & Recreation, to Utilities, Housing, Businesses, and more. 27 responses were received, and the full results are written below: 1.) “The Fire Dept. has worked for 80+ years as a volunteer system. I understand that volunteers are harder to come by now, but you are ruining it by the way you are spending grant money –it is going to run out and the people are going to have to pay. I don’t agree with the ordinance that I cannot build a garage on my own personal property to house my antique cars.”

2.) “The Twp needs to promote the summer concert series better. Do more Facebook posts.” a. “I’ve lived in the Twp twice in my life and never had any complaints with any services.

Street services are excellent. Fire services are top notch even with personnel issues.” b. “Hempfield Park is only a mile from our house. We were married and had our reception in Hempfield Park. Excellent sports complex. Outstanding for family gatherings, etc. Dog park is convenient for our dog also. Just promote the concert series more. Take advantage of competing with Greensburg Summer Sounds.”

3.) “More and better restroom facilities” 4.) “MORE FOOD TRUCKS” 5.) “Indoor pool, seniors pool classes, collaboration with school district, Zumba/senior Zumba gold’” 6.) “We love it here, but when someone asks, we say it’s ok because we don’t want them all to move here! Moved here for senior housing/downsizing, love access to amenities, transportation. Live out by Jolly Green, worried about crowding, additional traffic. This is why we left North Huntingdon. Preserve open space. Township golf course.”

7.) “Publicize concerts and events in the Trib” 8.) “Township needs some method to ensure the rules are followed by homeowners” 9.) “Suggestion: Roads are third world surely we can do better repairs” 10.) “Stop messing with the population mix. It will evolve naturally.”

11.) “1. Fall Festival?? 2. Parking” 12.) “A postal route in our town (Wendel). They closed our post office 2 years ago. We have to drive to Manor to pickup our mail. This is difficult for a lot of the elderly people.”

13.) “Perennial & Annual Flowers, blue spruce pines, more concerts, ornamental rocks, bicycle trail, charcoal grills, American Flagpole by Amphitheater” 14.) “Rec center way too small, too many lines at the pickleball court (ones inside, not outside)” 15.) “Park –Event choices” 16.) “We think the Park is very nice. We think everyone is doing a great job.”

17.) “Park –the walk down from the parking lot is difficult for people with bad knees!”
