Paul’s Paw-some Project: BUILDING A GAZEBO FOR THE HAVEN

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Paul, driven by his Eagle Scout project, has embarked on a mission to create a sanctuary for The Haven’s cherished companions. His vision? A vibrant gazebo, beckoning both potential adopters and dedicated dog walkers into a haven of comfort and shade.

Eagle Scout projects are renowned for their unwavering dedication, and Paul’s endeavor is no exception. With boundless determination, he not only conceived the project but also shouldered the responsibility of raising the funds single-handedly. Armed with permits in hand and meticulously crafted blueprints, Paul set out to tailor-make the perfect shelter for The Haven’s four-legged residents.

When asked about his inspiration, Paul’s response was as humble as it was heartwarming: “The Haven had a need, and it spoke to me. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to build a gazebo for these precious animals.” His empathy for our shelter’s furry inhabitants shines through his actions, embodying the very essence of community service.

From Shy to Shining: MANDI’S JOURNEY OF TRANSFORMATION AT THE HAVEN

Mandi, a timid and overweight 3-year-old DSH cat, arrived at The Haven burdened by past uncertainties, her heart heavy with apprehension. Mandi was prediabetic upon intake due to her weight and needed to be on a special monitored diet. She sought refuge in solitude, withdrawing from human touch and seeking solace only in the presence of her fellow felines.

Placed in foster care by The Haven, Mandi embarked on a journey of transformation, shedding not only her excess weight but also her deep-seated fears. Her progress was slow, but with each passing day, she found strength in the nurturing environment provided by her foster family. Yet, finding a forever home for a timid soul like Mandi seemed like an insurmountable challenge. But destiny had other plans. A compassionate family, moved by Mandi’s silent plea for love, opened their hearts and home to her.

As Mandi stepped into her new abode, a beacon of hope ignited within her. Though initially hesitant, she soon began to venture out of her comfort zone, her oncemuted purrs now echoing through the halls as she embraced her newfound freedom.

“When we brought her home, she would barely let us pet her, and she wouldn’t leave her room that she was comfortable in,” her new family recalls. “She has really warmed up to our big dog, Ellen, and will touch noses with her. When we get home from work in the evening, she waits near the door with our dog, Ellen, to greet us.”

Though shadows of her past linger, Mandi’s journey is a testament to the resilience of the human-animal bond. With each passing day, she grows more confident, her playful spirit lighting up the lives of all who are privileged to know her.

Bax Finds HIS FOREVER HOME

At The Haven, each wagging tail spins a tale of resilience, love, and the transformative power of compassion. Enter Bax, a handsome, timid 6-month-old pit bull mix, carrying the weight of a troubled past when he first graced our shelter’s doorstep. Abused and fearful, he yearned for a haven of safety and affection.

Fate intervened when Bax showed up at the doorstep of a compassionate family, ready to embrace him with open arms through The Haven’s Finder to Foster program, which helps found pets find temporary homes until they are redeemed or adopted. From their first encounter, it was evident that this adoption was no mere coincidence – it was destiny. “Bax chose us,” his new family reminisces. “From his first gentle lick, we knew he belonged in our hearts and home.” In an instant, bonds formed,

unbreakable and profound, as if Bax had been awaiting their arrival his entire life.

Now nestled in the warmth of his forever family, Bax’s true essence radiates. His zest for life is contagious, whether he’s joyfully chasing a ball or relishing his favorite pastime –gnawing on anything within reach! Yet, perhaps most heartwarming is Bax’s nightly “zoomies,” a whirlwind of exuberance that fills their home with laughter and love.

“He’s not just a pet; he’s HOME,” his family proudly proclaims. From claiming his spot on the couch to snuggling up in bed with his beloved humans, Bax has seamlessly integrated into the fabric of their lives, a cherished family member.

As we bask in tales like Bax’s, we’re reminded of the profound impact of adoption, both for the animals and the families who welcome them. Together, we script happy endings, weaving stories of love and companionship, one wagging tail at a time.
