Helping Pets & Communities Thrive: PROJECT PAWS & FIX’N FERALS!

Project PAWS: Affordable Care for Healthier Pets

Every pet deserves a happy, healthy life. Project PAWS provides low-cost spay/neuter services and rabies vaccinations for pets 12 weeks and older, especially for pet owners who are facing financial hardship. By offering this support, we’re helping families keep their beloved pets while also preventing unwanted litters that can overwhelm shelters. The impact? Fewer strays, healthier pets, and stronger bonds between people and their animals.

Together, We Can Make a Difference!

Exciting news! The Haven is launching Project PAWS (Pet Alteration and Wellness Services) and Fix’n Ferals, two programs designed to keep pets healthy, support pet owners, and reduce homelessness in our community.

Fix’n Ferals: A Humane Solution for Feral Cats

Feral cats are part of our community and deserve care too! Fixing Ferals uses Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) to humanely manage feral cat populations.

• Community members trap feral cats and bring them to a vet.

• Each cat receives spay/neuter surgery, along with FVRCP and rabies vaccinations.

• A painless ear tip is given to mark them as sterilized.

The cats are then returned to their outdoor homes — healthier and no longer contributing to overpopulation. This humane approach saves lives and helps stabilize free-roaming cat populations.

At The Haven, we’re not just helping animals — we’re helping families and the community. Project PAWS and Fix’n Ferals prevent pet homelessness before it starts.

How You Can Help:

• Donate – make a gift towards these programs.

• Get Involved – Spread the word, support TNR, or promote responsible pet care.

Your support keeps pets with their families, prevents homelessness, and creates a brighter future for animals.

Make a difference today! Donate to Project PAWS or Fix’n Ferals and be part of this lifesaving mission. When we care for animals, we build a stronger, more compassionate community.

At two years old, Australian Shepherd mix Cooper arrived at The Haven as a stray unclaimed from animal control. His adopter shares, “Cooper filled my life with love and adventure — my loyal shadow on hikes, beach days, and quiet mornings. He’s my heart, my best friend. The Haven made it possible.”

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Spring has sprung at The Haven, and so has the enthusiasm of our newest volunteer, David! Recently retired, David brings a lifetime of animal devotion to our team. A Louisville Greyhound Rescue veteran, he’s adept at giving pets second chances — his home brims with adopted furry pals!

Twice a week, as a Haven Turndown Assistant, David’s arrival ignites tail-wagging joy among The Haven’s dogs and cats. His goal? Keeping every pet healthy and happy until they find loving homes. At home, David cherishes time with his wife, Becky, and dog, Ellie.

The Haven is grateful to David for sharing his time and talent to help us make a pawsitive impact!
