FACT

THREAT

1. This large marine fish can grow up to 5.5 meters. It gets accidentally caught in fishing nets (by-catch). 2. This large bony fish is very popular to eat, and can weigh up to 260 kg. It is critically endangered due to overfishing.

Board Game Instructions (Front page)

Habitat loss (living area) due to development (roads, dams, ski areas) leaves them vulnerable.

1. You need one counter per player and one dice, (between 2-8 players).

4. The wingspan of this flying insect ranges between 8 and 11cm. Damage to wetlands can impact this animal.

2. The objective of the game is to be the first one to land on finish. Along the way you will learn interesting facts about some of Australia's endangered animals.

5. This marine mammal can live up to 70 years, and is also called a sea cow. It is at risk due to water pollution and loss of sea grass (its main food). 6. This popular ocean swimmer is found all over the world, and nests on sandy beaches. Plastic pollution gets ingested and causes entanglement.

3. Roll the dice, the highest roll starts. Take turns rolling the dice and move the counter accordingly.

7. This bird lays its eggs in a pile of leaves. The heat of the composting leaves incubates the eggs. Clearance of its habitat for agriculture (farms) threatens its safety. 8. This marsupial has a long tongue which it uses to eat up to 20,000 termites a day. Introduced foxes and feral cats hunt these small animals.

4. If you land on a letter, follow the instructions on the left.

9. This gentle giant is the largest of the fish species. It feeds on plankton only. Vessel strikes (being hit by a boat) are a real threat.

5. If you land on a space that is already occupied, you knock off the player already there.

10. This cute marsupial looks like a small kangaroo. It can climb small trees and shrubs. Prescribed burns destroy its habitat.

to go back to START.

11. This small reptile lives only in the rainforests of Christmas Island and eats bugs. It is critically endangered due to the introduction of the wolf snake in 1982.

6. Have fun!

12. This marsupial digs extensive tunnels, and is active at night (nocturnal). Foxes and feral (wild) cats threaten this rabbit-like marsupial. 13. This noisy parrot can live up to 80 years, and is often seen in large flocks. It is endangered by ongoing habitat destruction (cutting down large trees and bushland).
