NEXT YEAR WE CELEBRATE 40 YEARS!
2023 IS COMING to an end and 2024 is quickly approaching. It has been an eventful year indeed and next year we will increase the pace further. We have strengthened our sales force in the Finland-Baltic region, with our new Area Sales Manager Sami Mäkelä. Sami has worked in this industrial sector for almost 20 years, has long experience of fork positioners and local ties. So, we are now well placed to provide high and good service to our customers in the region. During the last few years, the RHD series, for forklift trucks 10-18 tonnes, has shown its high performance among end users. During 2023, the demand has increased confidence.
In 2024 we will reach a milestone as the company turns 40 years. We will celebrate this by inviting our customers, partners and suppliers to our facility in Askersund. We will also make ourselves more visible on the European market outside the Nordic region. A part of this is our participation at the LogiMAT Trade Show in Germany, March 19 - 21. We promise some exciting news that we believe is well worth a visit.

CHRISTMAS & NEW YEARS
A brief but festive time is approaching with the Christmas holidays and New Year. Production and customer service will be closed from Friday, December 22nd, at 12:00 and will reopen when we return on Tuesday, January 2nd, at 08:00.

Hydraulic telescopic forks always at hand
Hagaberg has offered KOOI® Reachforks for 25 years and still takes pride in delivering the safest and most effective solution for extension forks.
KOOI® Reachforks revolutionary fork design with integrated hydraulics, allows the operator to extend the forks without exiting the truck. This eliminates the risk of personal injuries that can occur when handling loose extension forks that need to be attached and detached.
One of the significant advantages of KOOI® Reachforks is that they enable safe and quick handling of various pallet sizes with a reduced risk of damage to goods or packaging. Reduce internal transport costs by up to 50% by carrying double loads on each transport occasion. Telescopic forks are an ideal solution for loading/unloading trucks or similar from only one side, saving time, energy, and fuel.
KOOI® Reachforks are available for all sizes of trucks, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, whether integrated into positioners or as hook-on forks with ISO or TWS hooks and “Bolt-on”. Versatility expands further with several optional features such as a fork camera, pallet stops, or KOOI® Reachcontrol which allows the programming of electronic auto-stops at different lengths.

With what challenges and ambitions did you enter your role as CEO?
I really wanted to transform Hagaberg into a customer focused company and embark on a new growth journey.
How long have you been working at Hagaberg? I started in 2016. Time flies terrifyingly fast. But it’s incredibly enjoyable because each day is different, and I am surrounded by fantastic colleagues and customers.
What was your first job?
I drove around in an old Fiat picking up golf balls at a driving range. I think I was only 11 years old.
What’s next for Hagaberg that you are looking forward to?
We have many exciting new projects with customers and suppliers. Also, we have our upcoming 40th anniversary, which we are eagerly anticipating.
What is important for good leadership? Being open and honest.
What do you do in your free time?
I watch a lot of hockey. There’s not much room for more hobbies, actually.
Is ”like owner, like dog” true? I’ll send a picture so everyone can decide for themselves!

WE CALL IT THE COFFIN FORK
We have recently completed an exciting project where we customized a solution for one of our clients. In this case, it involved the development of an integrated tilt fork specifically designed for handling coffins in crematoriums.
As always, it is enjoyable to deliver a ”One of a kind” product. Often, these require special adaptations and a bit of extra creative thinking. To meet our client’s unique needs, we adapted the attachment to fit onto a reach truck with a capacity of 1 000 kg/LC 600 mm. A notable challenge was that the intended truck type for handling the coffin fork did not have an extra hydraulic function available. However, our engineers are natural problem solvers, and instead of using traditional hydraulic cylinders, they devised a solution by integrating electric actuators to control the tilt function. An electric actuator on each side of the fork enables a 4-5° downward tilt, allowing coffins to be slid off safely and smoothly.
The coffin fork is a solution where the tilt function is integrated into the interface between the fork back and the mast integration. The capacity in this case is 350 kg/ LC 1 000 mm. The robust mono fork, measuring 250x30x1 600mm, is coated with a thin layer of stainless steel, ensuring not only durability but also making it easier to slide the coffins off the fork. •

In a recent interview with Hagaberg’s Finnish Area Sales Manager, we had the opportunity to delve into his extensive experience from the industry and insights into the company’s unique products and offers. His passion and commitment to delivering top-quality service is evident.
Sami Mäkelä began his career in sales right from the start. For the past 18 years, he has been focusing on fork positioners, witnessing the evolution of the business. When asked about the key area where his expertise shines through, he emphasized his ability to combine his technical background with service skills and passion to create positive customer experiences. He also highlights an appreciation for the connection with Stefan, Hagaberg CBDO, built through shared work experiences over the years.
Mäkelä points out three key elements that make Hagaberg products exciting to work with.
Hagaberg will participate in next year’s major logistics trade show ”LogiMAT” in Stuttgart, Germany. In our 30 square meter stand we will show selected models of our forklifts and system solutions that make a big difference in terms of economy, efficiency and safety.
