Shavin Greene Appointed As Fifa Referee
Afew weeks after Shavin Greene was appointed as a FIFA accredited referee, he was selected as a match official at the February Concacaf Men’s Under-17Championship.
The Championship took place between February 11 and 26 in Guatemala with 20 youth teams, including Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and the United States vying for the top spot. Greene, who was appointed as a FIFA referee in early January, officiated his first match in the tournament on February 14 at the Estadio Doroteo week development scholarship programme which was launched in 2021 and has so far has 21 male and female footballers certified MACORP operators “The skills and the certification they would have earned is going to benefit them whether they choose to use that skill today, or two to three years down the road. For many of them, they are acquiring an invaluable skill at a time when the demand for skill labour in Guyana is at its highest in our country’s history.
