U17 LEAGUE CONTINUES IN 2023
More than a thousand boys from across Guyana have so far benefited from the ongoing Guyana Football Federation-NAMILCO ‘Flour Power’ U17 Intra-Association League. With full participation from all nine GFF regional associations, the league continued in 2023 with structured training and competitive matchesacrossGuyana.
Several youth league players, including Jeremy Garrett, Ryan Hackett and Omari Glasgow, who is currently on a professional contract with Chicago Fire II in the United States, have progressed to Guyana’s youth and seniornationalteams.

The league was launched in 2019 and participating associations are Rupununi Football Association, Upper Demerara FA, East Bank FA, Georgetown FA, East Demerara FA, Berbice FA, West Demerara FA,Essequibo Coast/PomeroonFA,Bartica FA and teams in Region One (BarimaWaini). “Like many other partnerships, it has had its successes, but we have also had our challenges and I believe what comes to mind at this moment is that fact that we have beenabletocelebrateoursuccessandwork though the details of the decisions that we need to take together to negate those challenges," GFF President Wayne Forde said. NAMILCO Finance Control Manager Fitzroy McLeod reiterated that frequent competitions are integral to young football players'overalldevelopment.
