GDF FC Wins MVP Women’s Development League Playoff

There is a new women’s top club in

Guyana.TheGuyanaDefenceForce Football Club convincingly won the MVP Women’s Development League Playoff on April 5. The Guyana Defence Force Football Club played a strong attacking game, breaking through Fruta Conquerors FC’s defence to win the championship match 3-1,just beforemidnight at theEveLearySportsGround.

Their supporters cheered loudly throughout the game and to the beat of drums after the final whistle at the Eve Leary Sports Club Ground in Georgetown. “We’re very happy about the win. We came into this game playing very hard. Our way forward today is for the next league, we’ll go back on the field and keep on working hard to come again and win again next year,” shared Defence Force FC centre-back and captain Cloetta Dublin. Earlier in the evening, Guyana Police Force Football Club dominated the thirdplace match against Pakuri Jaguars Football Clubwithafinalscoreof8-0.

Women’s Development League Playoff sponsored by MVP Sports and Urban Life. The league was launched in June 2022 with 37 teams from across Guyana to give female players more match minutes.
