President, Cabinet members visit GDF annual training camp President David Granger, Prime Minister Moses Nagamooto, Attorney General, Basil Williams and Public Security Minister, Khemraj Ramjattan Thursday visited the group of reservists who are undergoing training on the 2017 Annual Camp at the Colonel Robert Mitchell Jungle and Amphibious Training School (JATS) at Makouria in the Essequibo River. The Commander in Chief and his team were welcomed by Chief of Staff, Brigadier Patrick West and a team from Defence Headquarters. At JATS, the Reservists are receiving Basic Jungle Survival Training being conducted by a team of Brazilian Jungle Specialists. While at Seweyo, this batch had benefited from Basic Military Training which included Field Craft, National Policy and Disaster Relief. A total of 414 youths are being trained on the programme. More than 50 percent are new to the programme and 34% are females. During the visit, the reservists conducted a number of presentations highlighting what they have learnt thus far. Jungle Training teaches them how to survive in the jungle by living off the land. Their assimilation of the information thus far is commendable. The visit also included tours to the jungle survival camps and shelters.
