British offshore patrol vessel arrives in Guyana Guyana’’s waters No.107309
‘Our Region 03 must remain a zone of peace’ PAGE
COMMANDER Tim D Langford presented a token to Chief-of-Staff Colonel Omar Khan to mark their arrival. The purpose of HMS Trent’s deployment to the Caribbean is primarily to hunt down drug smugglers in the region. The Royal Navy warship usually operates in the Mediterranean and off Africa’s west coast as part of a long-term security mission. However, the ship was re-tasked to the Caribbean to clamp down on drug runners. Due to shallow port conditions, the ship will not be docking in Port Georgetown.
