THE SPIRIT OF

The Original Giver

Who was the first giver? God. He gave us breath, life, creation and eventually Christ His son to redeem not only us, but all creation. Isn’t this what Christmas and the season of giving is all about? Isn’t this the foundation of our nation and what made us the greatest country in the world? God gave us a map to live by a standard of morality and a rule of law that will make any country that chooses to adopt His ways peaceful and prosperous. Since the beginning of the New Testament church more than two thousand years ago, Christian missionaries have spread this good news to many nations who have chosen these standards and have become more peaceful and more prosperous.

“The Season of Giving,” as we like to refer to Christmas is a time when we focus more on giving, but the truth is, giving is a lifestyle. We are admonished to live our lives to help others. If we are parents, our giving begins with our own families. As parents, we never stop giving to our children. We raise them and provide for them, buy the car, send them to college and depending on the choices they make, we may be giving to them way beyond.

Many people have a favorite charity they like to give to. I had a Realtor recently tell me about a client who is selling a $2.5 million beach house and will be giving all their profit to St. Jude’s. The backstory is that they lost a child to cancer, and they believe in what St. Jude’s does for cancer victims. That is what you call extravagant giving. The book of Proverbs says that “extravagant giving never leads to poverty.”

Others prefer to give to their church or ministry to support the work of God. We are to honor God with

the first fruits of our increase. If we are prosperous and we hoard everything for ourselves, we typically live an empty meaningless life void of true happiness and satisfaction.

What about those poor, homeless people who stand at the intersections with a sign in hand and a dog at their side? Are they worthy or our gift of help? We can look down on them and think they obviously have made some bad choices. Or could it be they just ran into misfortune? Remember how unworthy you are of what you have been blessed with. Let your heart lead you when it comes to the needs of the poor. The scriptures instruct us to give to anyone who asks for our help, when it is in our power to help them. “Every time we give to the poor, we are making a loan to the Lord. Don’t worry, you’ll be repaid in full for all the good you’ve done”. Proverbs 19:17 (TPT Translation).

If you really want to find satisfaction in giving, don’t wait for the needy to come to you, seek them out. Notice them. They are all around you. I am not talking about $10 here or $20 there. Some of us have the ability to change someone’s life, and when we do, it will change our lives.

Although we celebrate and place special emphasis on giving during Christmas, let us continue that spirit throughout 2025 and beyond. Sure, we have high inflation and other economic and political problems, but the generous always prosper when others lack. Work hard, give generously, spread kindness, and have a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s holiday!

MCKINSEY BOSS HENDREY

Faith, Family, and Real Estate: How McKinsey Boss Hendry Fuses Purpose and Passion at Coastal Realty Group

A proud Gulfport native, McKinsey Boss Hendry has forged a career as a faith-driven broker associate with Coastal Realty Group (CRG). Over the past decade, she’s earned a reputation as a top producer while passionately prioritizing her clients’ best interests — not only in real estate but also in faith.

“My business is more about building a relationship than selling a house,” McKinsey begins. “I’m focused on what really matters: serving my clients in a faithbased manner. I try to take every opportunity to share my testimony.” Her dedication to her clients mirrors the principle described in Philippians 2:4: “Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of Others.”

FINDING HER PATH

Growing up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, McKinsey discovered a love for tennis early on, playing competitively through high school at Harrison Central and continuing into college at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. She later transferred to William Carey University, where she pursued a bachelor’s degree in business with a focus on marketing and management and met a pivotal figure in her life — Amanda D’Angelo, who is now her broker and sister-in- law at CRG. “I met Amanda playing tennis,” McKinsey recalls with a smile. “She was my partner and quickly became one of my closest friends. We both shared a hunger for success and eventually found out we had the same degree.” Amanda encouraged McKinsey to consider real estate, sensing that McKinsey had the right personality for the field. This guidance, combined with support from McKinsey’s husband, Brandon, led her to embark on her real estate journey.

Amanda’s insight not only became a guiding light in McKinsey’s career but also introduced her to her husband, Brandon, Amanda’s brother. Mckinsey and Brandon often acknowledge Proverbs 16:9: “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” In McKinsey’s case, each step was laid out with purpose.

READY FOR LAUNCH

McKinsey’s journey into real estate was as swift as it was determined. Just days after graduating in 2014, she dove headfirst into the industry, guided by two influential mentors: Amanda and experienced Realtor Brenda Chapuis.

“Amanda held my hand through every step, but Brenda deserves credit too for taking me under her wing,” McKinsey acknowledges.

Through hard work and commitment, McKinsey quickly became a top producer, hitting impressive sales volumes year after year. She’s on track to reach $13 million in sales again this year, a reflection of her dedication to treating real estate as a full-time calling. “Too many people come into this industry with one foot out the door. I didn’t give myself an alternative or an excuse to fail,” she says.

McKinsey’s achievements haven’t gone unnoticed; she’s been awarded CRG’s prestigious Platinum Award multiple times, a testament to her commitment to client satisfaction. “To truly be successful, you need happy clients,” she explains. “I like to preemptively give information and point clients in the right direction, so they don’t have to ask questions or worry about being uninformed.”

HEART FOR SERVING

McKinsey’s success is rooted in her commitment to conducting her business with a faith-based perspective, putting her clients’ best interests at the forefront. Her approach, centered on relationships rather than transactions, is driven by Matthew 6:33: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” This principle is also mirrored in her role as a preferred agent with Ramsey Solutions, where she offers financial guidance inspired by her personal experience with the Dave Ramsey program. Having become debt-free herself, she now helps clients make sound, financially responsible home-buying decisions.

“My husband and I follow the Dave Ramsey program and became debt-free ourselves, which gave us the financial freedom we want others to enjoy,” she says. For newer agents, McKinsey’s advice reflects her full-throttle approach: “Go into real estate full-time when you begin. You have to be hungry enough to push yourself to succeed.”

ON THE HOME FRONT

Beyond her career, McKinsey leads an active life with her husband Brandon and their two children, Kaleb, 15, and Joanna, 4. Married for nine years, the Hendry family expanded when they adopted Kaleb at age 10 while McKinsey was pregnant

YOU HAVE TO BE HUNGRY ENOUGH TO PUSH YOURSELF TO SUCCEED.

with Joanna. “Everyone thought we were out of our minds for adopting on top of having a baby, but God’s plans are always better than ours,” she reflects. Jeremiah 29:11 and James 1:27 resonates deeply with McKinsey’s family journey: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” “Religion that is pure and good before God the Father is to help orphans and widows.”

Together, the Hendry family enjoys adventures in their Beechcraft F33A Bonanza airplane, exploring new towns and making memories. In addition, McKinsey stays connected to her roots through tennis, playing competitively at Bayou Bluff Tennis Club when time allows. McKinsey and her husband are also active members of Michael Memorial Baptist Church in Gulfport.

Their heart for discipleship has inspired annual mission trips to Brazil and leading small Bible study groups at home.

“These trips have been instrumental in developing our love for God’s people and the mission he has charged us with in Matthew 28:19: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,” she shares.

LOOKING AHEAD

McKinsey’s future with Coastal Realty Group is bright. She’s focused on growing CRG alongside her sister-in-law, Amanda, with an eye toward expanding into Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana. “We have the best admin team and broker at our company who work hard to serve our clients and our community,” she says with pride.

On a personal note, McKinsey and Brandon are planning a special celebration for their 10th wedding anniversary next year with a trip to Ireland and Scotland. Still, her primary focus remains on faith and family.

“Ultimately, I just want to raise well-rounded children who love the Lord and grow up to become successful in whatever they do in accordance with Proverbs 22:6,” she concludes. McKinsey’s journey is a testament to faith, hard work, and the power of family bonds. Through her unwavering dedication to her clients, her family, and her faith, she continues to inspire others to pursue their own paths with purpose.

A CALLING BORN FROM CHAOS

SCOTT

OAKTRUST INSURANCE GROUP

SCOTT MOSHER ENJOYS HELPING PEOPLE CHOOSE THE RIGHT INSURANCE FOR THEIR NEW HOME AS MUCH AS HE LOVES HELPING PEOPLE STAY IN THEIR HOME AFTER THE UNEXPECTED STRIKES.

As the owner and insurance broker at Oaktrust Insurance Group, Scott has seen it all over 16 years of experience in the industry, from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to the challenges of the global pandemic.

NAVIGATING CHANGE

Armed with a degree in computer science from the University of Southern Mississippi, Scott initially pursued a career as a computer engineer at Ingalls Shipyard, Mississippi’s largest employer. However, after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast in 2005, Scott, along with many other homeowners, was left grappling with the aftermath, including skyrocketing insurance rates.

“I saw how many lives that storm affected and what it did to insurance premiums in this area. Once Katrina hit, insurance tripled or quadrupled around here,” Scott recalls. “I learned a lot about insurance myself, and it was so interesting I decided I wanted to help other people, too.”

Leveraging his background in computer science, Scott seamlessly transitioned into the insurance sector, bringing his technical expertise along with

him. In 2008, Scott founded Oaktrust Insurance Group, formerly known as Bishop Insurance Agency. The independent agency has since blossomed into three office locations across Biloxi, Ocean Springs, and Gulfport, boasting a team of 28 dedicated employees that handles everything from home, auto, and boat insurance, to commercial and flood coverage.

“Our philosophy at Oaktrust is simple: 100-percent customer satisfaction,” Scott explains. “We represent the client, not a specific company, so we have access to many different carriers. This allows us to shop rates with over 100 different carriers, ensuring our clients receive the best possible coverage at competitive prices.”

Over the years, Scott has witnessed significant changes in the insurance industry, from rising premiums driven by climate change and inflation, to shifts in customer expectations and technological advancements. Despite these challenges, Oaktrust remains resolute in its commitment to delivering exceptional service to its clients, regardless of market or weather conditions.

“We pride ourselves on being quick and responsive,” Scott emphasizes. “We try to get back a quote to customers within 24 hours, but it’s often much quicker than that. Our goal is to make the insurance process as smooth and seamless as possible for our clients, whether they’re purchasing a new home or navigating a claim.”

A FAMILY MAN

Beyond his work, Scott’s loved ones are at the heart of everything he does. He and his wife, Amy, share a close bond with their two daughters, Gabrielle and Amberlyn, and delight in the joy of being grandparents to three young grandchildren. Together, the couple cherishes every moment spent together, whether it’s traveling locally or cheering on their favorite sports teams, the Saints and the Braves.

“Both of our daughters got married within the past three years so it’s been a blessing to have three new grandbabies under two years old around,” Scott chuckles. “We also have three family pets — two rescue dogs, Miles and Max, and Mojo is a dachshund — so our house can get pretty lively.”

As Scott looks towards the future, he remains optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead for Oaktrust Insurance Group as rates hopefully start to stabilize.

“We will continue to offer the best solutions in insurance to our communities,” Scott concludes. “We are always available and want to help close deals and help Realtors’ clients in any way we can.”

AmandaD’Angelo

Breathing Life Into Leadership

A Leader Is Born

Real estate became a life-affirming influence in Amanda D’Angelo’s life long before she decided to pursue it as her profession. “While still in college, I was trying to decide what career path to take with a major in business and a minor in marketing”, Amanda explained.

“At the time, my mother had a few rental houses that she renovated and managed. She had always loved real estate so she was trying to convince me to get my license. In an attempt to get her off my back, I got my license during my junior year of college, thinking it would only be temporary until I graduated and got a different job”, she confessed.

After graduating from The University of MS in 2008, Amanda moved to Biloxi to continue her real estate career (still thinking it would only be temporary).

Amanda’s reservations about pursuing real estate long-term lay mainly in the state of the field at that time. “It was the summer of 2008. The real estate market was crashing. The economy was in shambles. No one was hiring a college graduate with zero experience”, she revealed. “I had no choice but to stick it out a few more years until things turned around.”

What she didn’t realize at the time was that things were about to change. After a few years of working as an agent, Amanda fell in love with real estate. “I can’t imagine myself doing anything else”, she shared proudly.

Leading Together

Amanda and a few others decided to open the brokerage, CRG

(Coastal Realty Group), in 2015. Then, in 2022, Amanda became the sole owner of the company.

Since starting Coastal Realty Group, Amanda has learned the importance of building a team of other professionals to help carry the workload. “As a small business owner, I was wearing many hats to maintain a successful office. It didn’t take me long to realize that I couldn’t keep that pace up and I needed to hire support in many areas”, she confessed.

“Luckily in 2022, I had the perfect broker associate who graciously agreed to be the managing broker, Mary Morgan”, she added. “She and I pride ourselves in focusing on mentorship and training to provide a culture that encourages a growth environment. We know that while classes are great, agents need help daily, and having support when you need it is critical. So Mary and I are the resources for them”, she shared proudly.

In addition to the managing broker, Amanda has expanded her team to include both a full-time receptionist and a full-time transaction coordinator. “So someone is always around to help the agents”, Amanda explained.

Building Other Leaders

Amanda is currently supervising 39 agents at her brokerage. The level of care she provides to them is truly unmatched. She anticipates their needs and has put various growth opportunities in place to support them.

At Coastal Realty Group, Amanda offers competitive compensation options to fit different stages of an agent’s business. “I have learned that it’s not all about money, though. There has to be value to add in many other areas to create a total package”, she added. “A place where agents feel appreciated, supported, and loved. It’s more than just words, it’s a way of living that nurtures well-being, fosters growth, and creates spaces where individuals and teams thrive.”

“Not every agent gets in real estate with a ton of sphere clients ready to buy or sell property. So being able to provide opportunities for agents to grow their business through various paid marketing platforms is a huge boost that we provide”, she revealed. “We also have ‘Training Tuesdays’ every week and have accountability sessions with agents to track their goal progression.”

Even her vendors notice the difference when they enter her brokerage. “Our vendors will tell us that our office is rare because it is full of life and energy - with staff and agents always being there”, she admitted.

This difference that the vendors sense is not only due to all the training and resources Amanda provides to her team, it is from maintaining a work/fun balance.

“While real estate is a priority, we can have a little fun too. Our office has some pretty amazing people so when we come together, it’s like hanging out with your best friends all day! We are very fortunate in that we have a great group of people”, she described.

Realty Group core values (Christianity, Loyalty, Integrity, Leadership, and Family) and their mission statement (Coastal Realty Group, leading the way by providing superior service with integrity and creating lifelong relationships to help our community navigate the real estate experience.).

Her efforts have clearly been paying off too. In 2023, Coastal Realty Group had a total of 496 transactions totaling over $115 million and is on track to far surpass those numbers this year.

Defining Leadership Amanda is redefining the word ‘leadership’.

Amanda also attributes this to them standing by their Coastal

When describing how she runs her brokerage, she shared the following, “I treat our agents like I want to be treated and I foster that mentality over into our business with other agents, vendors, and clients. I tell people all the time, I have to sleep at night so I am going to do what is right even when it hurts.”

Amanda provides her agents with a comfortable environment where they can always come to her with anything. To this, she stated, “It’s a safe place where they don’t have to be scared of an irrational reaction. If there is a problem, I will approach it with a team mindset to come up with a solution.”

I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.

Her brokerage is not the only place she is sharing her leadership skills, though. Amanda is a member of Mosiac Church in Ocean Springs. She also actively serves on several committees with the Gulf Coast Association of Realtors and MLS United. She is married to her husband, Matthew, and the mother of her two children, Myles and Mary Kathryn.

For all up-and-coming realtors, Amanda suggests, “You have to be consistent in putting in the work before you can see a steady pipeline of sphere business. I am talking about YEARS of hard work to grow your brand.”

She shared that she heard on a podcast once that you should always be willing to give a new business 5 years before you decide it is not a good fit. She said, “That stuck with me through those first few years when things

were really tough and it would have been easy to throw in the towel. I wanted to walk away knowing I truly tried my best. Luckily, I never walked away!”

When asked how she defines success, Amanda answered, “Watching my agents grow every year is how I define success. I feel like if you aren’t growing, you are dying. Maybe it’s not always professional growth. It could be personal or spiritual growth, but I am blessed to walk alongside 39 people as they navigate life. I count that as an honor and privilege.”

As it turns out, what Amanda heard on that podcast years ago has proven true in her life. Those 5 years of uncertainty have turned into a lifetime of assurance, and being awarded “Broker of the Year 2024” just further solidifies that truth.

RACHEL ALLEN

COASTAL REALTY GROUP

ALWAYS DELIVERING MORE

MORE TO PURSUE

“What are your plans for the future”, Rachel Allen[1] was asked as she approached her high school graduation. It’s a question every senior is asked, though few actually know the answer at only 18 years of age.

For Rachel, though, that was not the case. Even then, she knew her destiny would someday lay in real estate.

“A combination of fear and already having a good job kept me back for a long time”, Rachel shared as she reflected on her time post-high school.

After working with Edwards Electric doing contract administration and commercial accounting for 15 years, she decided to branch out into a sales position with Southeastern Door & Window, where she worked for 5 years.

A need for change, followed by much prayer, gave Rachel the nudge she needed to finally pursue real estate. “I finally had an opportunity to follow my dreams so, at the advice of my friend, I decided to give it a try”, she shared.

“I decided if I was spending all my time stalking the real estate apps and imagining myself as a real estate agent that it was time to take the leap”, she said jokingly. “So I decided to leave the corporate world behind and pursue what I love - real estate!”

MORE TO ACHIEVE

In 2020, that ‘leap of faith’ proved to be worth it. Rachel obtained her real estate license and began working for Coastal Realty Group, “the #1 independent brokerage on the coast”, as she proudly shared.

Rachel’s go-getting personality and pure passion for helping people have made for a successful real estate career already.

In the four years she has been with her Coastal Realty Group family, Rachel has already obtained an abundance of accolades, including Rookie of the Year 2021, Top Producer 2021, Top Producer 2022, Top Producer 2023, and the 2022 Boomtown Award. As for her total transactions for 2024, she is on track to mirror that of last year with 27. She’s also been averaging around $5 million per year in sales[2].

When it comes to success, Rachel stated the following, “Personal success to me would be living a content life, surrounded by those who I love. Success in business is having a reputation worth standing behind”. She finds that the most fulfilling part of her real estate career is helping people. “Having a servant’s heart… It fulfills me daily to guide my clients to the perfect property, no matter their situation.”

Photos By Anna K. Stokes, AK Stokes Photography

Rachel has determined that treating clients with care and respect, plenty of humor, close attention to detail, and a pinch of creativity is the perfect recipe for her real estate success. “That is my way of ensuring my clients are taken care of every step of the way in their own personal real estate story”, she added.

MORE TO LOVE

Aside from real estate, Rachel shares many passions.

Growing up in New Orleans, Louisiana and central Mississippi, a love for food was born early on. Some of the local restaurants she frequents include Sully’s, Bacchus, Jourdan River Steamer, The Rackhouse, Half Shell Oyster House, Adventures, 200 North Beach, and Blue Dog Bistro. As for her former hometown of New Orleans, Rachel’s favorites include Muriel’s, Maspero’s, and The Gumbo Shop. When asked about her hobbies, Rachel emphasized, “eating really, really good food”. [3]

However, her favorite way to spend time is with her family. “I value quality time over anything”, she stated, referring to her miracle daughter, Aven, and her fiance, Shawn. “I love to spend our time in social settings. You can usually find us, on any given day, with our family and friends. We do everything from dinners, parties, porch sitting, river days, and vacations! We love to travel and experience fun things here locally on the Gulf Coast.”

Rachel also enjoys taking evening strolls with the family dog, Dumplin (an English Doodle), while Aven rides her bicycle. “She’s a hot mess but also is the sweetest dog”, she explained.

Then there is one of Rachel’s greatest passions, which is that for the Lord God. An active member of Northwood Church’s Long Beach campus, Rachel is currently serving in the children’s ministry. She is also co-leading their fall Freedom small group.

MORE TO GIVE

Rachel’s personal and professional motto is “Always deliver more than is expected” and that is certainly evident in her daily life.

With her extensive knowledge of the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast, she has been effortlessly guiding her clients to their ideal properties (and offering suggestions to some of the best local restaurants, of course).

ALWAYS DELIVER MORE THAN IS EXPECTED.

Rachel continues to deliver her clients with consistent hard work, sincere care, and an investment in their future success.

As for her own future, Rachel’s professional goal is to continue success with Coastal Realty Group, while growing her client base.

Her personal plans for the future include marrying her fiance in a local, intimate wedding ceremony. They also plan to purchase an investment property in the near future and wish to build a family compound sometime in the next few years.

“I am always learning and always growing”, she added, which speaks to her true nature of genuine care toward her clients - past, present, and future.

“Wherever the Lord leads, I follow.”

For any up-and-coming realtors, Rachel suggests focusing on the following values, “Honesty. Integrity. Dedication. Consistency. These are the qualities that I try to abide by every day, both at home and in the office”.
