Yes! Please visit the Advisor Portal’s “My Profile” page: https://new.guidepointglobaladvisors. com/advisors/fullprofile/ to update your Employment History and Biography any time your employment or job title changes. You should also review your profile every six months to ensure that it is accurate and up to date and that it includes as much detail as possible about your professional responsibilities and accomplishments over the past few years. This helps us send you relevant project requests and gives our clients a better understanding of your expertise.

You can review and reply to all of your pending project invitations at once at the Advisor Portal’s “Invitations” page: https://new. guidepointglobaladvisors.com/requests/ invitations/. Since most Guidepoint projects are time-sensitive, we recommend that you reply to invitations as quickly as possible in order to maximize your chance of being selected for consultations. Clients consider screening responses when deciding which Advisors to set up paid consultations with, so we suggest that you answer screening questions in 2-3 sentences with as much detail as possible.

The most niche industry an advisor worked in that you’ve worked with: I have worked on many projects on topics or industries I previously knew nothing about.

I worked on a potato supply chain project.

I spoke with advisors from many different backgrounds: small farm owners, grocery store chain executives, and processors/manufacturers.

It is always interesting to learn how much goes into something that you take for granted It is also intriguing to see the correlations between projects and real world events/outcomes; a few days after starting on this project there were many reports of a “french fry shortage”.

Have any Advisors ever inspired you to become interested in another career path?

I haven’t been influenced in changing career paths, but I have been inspired by countless advisors. I’ve had opportunities to learn about many industries and spaces that I hadn’t considered before. As an Economics major, I thought I had a good grasp on the different areas of the finance world and the jobs within it.

However I’ve come to learn that there are many different departments and positions that make a financial institution function efficiently and successfully Advice to Guidepoint Advisors to help make working with you a success: Timeliness is a huge factor in terms of Advisor success. A lot of the time clients need a super quick turn around and choose advisors from the first batch sent over. The faster an advisor responds, the quicker we can send the advisor’s information over to the client.

The most niche industry an advisor worked in that you’ve worked with:

I recently worked on a project that focused on finasteride (a hair loss treatment), that is widely available for internal and external use worldwide, but in China only the internal use one exists.

Recently a company in China said they were ready to introduce a certain product from abroad, which they believe is more effective than what most people in China use and has fewer side effects, it’s probably going to disrupt the entire hair-loss industry in China.

One of the most interesting/niche projects I worked on recently was about the Beehive Technology market. It was very interesting to see how advanced technology like AI can be applied in a trade as ancient as Beekeeping. However, when you learn how demanding and time-consuming beekeeping actually is it makes sense that there’s room for smart tech applications to optimize the process.

Have any Advisors ever inspired you to become interested in another career path?

Although I can’t think of any specific examples that made me think about other career paths, there are cases every now and then when I feel truly inspired by one of our advisors. Many of them are extremely passionate about their field and love sharing their knowledge. We may live in a very corporate and profit driven world but it’s refreshing to come across people that stay true to their values and care about the greater good of what they’re doing.

Advice to Guidepoint Advisors to help make working with you a success: I think the interactions between experts and our clients are a mutual learning experience rather than experts just advising clients. Experts can be better positioned to advise clients by understanding the market segments more comprehensively. By learning how different clients view the market and which perspectives they are paying attention to I think the value of the interaction drastically goes up.

Advice to Guidepoint Advisors to help make working with you a success: It’s vital to have your employment history updated because that’s one of the most important indicators we have to identify your profile for a project and reach out to you. It is important that you respond in a timely manner to project invitations as our clients are usually looking to review profiles in the first 48 hours for many projects. Also the goal of the screening process is to introduce you to the topics that the client is most interested in. Responding in 2-3 clear sentences indicating why you’re the right person to answer each topic should be more than enough.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT In the Advisor Spotlight of our previous Advisor Newsletter, Guidepoint Advisor Lloydette Bai-Marrow talked about how many organizations foster a “speak-up” culture backed up by non-retaliation policies. However, those who speak up are often exposed and penalized instead of protected. Those that speak up are a vital part of the ethical ecosystem of any organization and when leaders fail to embody their ethical values and principles in every area, a consequence is that employees who do see the “bad apples “, do nothing about it. The rot sets in, structures start to decay, and systems begin to fail. Below are the three R’s Lloydette wants your organization to keep in mind when an employee speaks up during a crisis:

React – Employees may be forced to escalate their concerns outside the organization when its leaders will not even acknowledge the existence of those concerns, regardless of their validity. Reacting does not always mean starting a full investigation. But it does mean reassuring those who have spoken up that they have been heard.

Respond – Organizations will often have hotlines, an internal reporting hierarchy, training manuals, and comprehensive systems and procedures, yet still earn criticism for failing to respond, or respond in a meaningful way. An effective response is one that distills all the relevant factors in a constructive and timely manner and sets out a clear plan of action.

Remediate – Every crisis can be made worse — much worse — by a “head in the sand” mentality. Follow through on the organization’s plan of action and do what is necessary to turn the situation around. Take the steps needed to ensure that organizational values and principles remain intact. That is ethical leadership in action.
