Introduction Welcome to the January 2024 GTH Planning Policy Overview. This document has been developed by the Greenslade Taylor Hunt, Development Land and Planning Department and aims to draw together the key planning and development information for Local Authorities across the South West in one accessible place.

Whilst every effort is made to ensure this document has the latest up-to-date information, changes in planning policy may occur in between publications.

The key updates are as follows: 

The considerations for tilted balance have changed due to the new NPPF (December 2023), with Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) that have an emerging Local Plan (with draft allocations and policies map) at the Reg 18 Draft, Reg 19 Draft, or Examination stages, only being required to demonstrate a 4 year housing land supply for a period of two years following this publication.


