Welcome to the February 2025 GTH Planning Policy Overview. This is the first addition of our PPO since the Government introduced significant changes to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and the Standard Method for calculating housing needs. The changes have carried with them a significant increase in Council’s housing targets, as such an increased number of Local Planning Authorities (LPA’s) have found themselves falling short of their Five-Year Housing Land Supply Requirements. While some LPA’s have published their updated figures, many have not. Where there are no recent published figures we have provided our own best estimates, comparing this with each LPA’s latest published position.
This document has been developed by the Greenslade Taylor Hunt, Development Land and Planning Department and aims to draw together the key planning and development information for Local Authorities across the South West in one accessible place. Whilst every effort is made to ensure this document has the latest up-to-date information, changes in planning policy may occur in between publications.
