The 21st annual Northern Michigan Small Farm Conference was held Saturday, January 25th at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. Tribal Council Secretary Tina Frankenberger and Agriculture and Food Sovereignty Department Manager William Derouin presented on the growth and recent expansion of the tribe’s agriculture and food sovereignty in the six county area. They explained what they had accomplished in the last year and the challenges they faced during the process. The event had a large turnout and was filled with lectures from local farmers, growers and hobbyists, giving them all a chance to network and learn from each others agriculture operations. - by Jared Sonderegger, Editor
