Greensboro Country Club
July | August 2025
COO/General Manager's Message

Dear Members,
As summer unfolds across our beautiful grounds, I extend my heartfelt wishes for a joyful and safe 4th of July. This season brings with it not only sunshine and celebration but also the perfect opportunity to connect, relax, and make lasting memories with friends and family here at the Club.
There is something truly special about summertime at Greensboro Country Club. Our community comes alive with energy and warmth, reflecting the unique spirit that sets us apart. Whether you are spending your days on the golf course, enjoying a friendly match on the courts, savoring seasonal cuisine, or simply unwinding by the pool, we have thoughtfully designed experiences to make your summer at the Club both memorable and meaningful.
Across the hospitality industry, finding and retaining qualified staff remains a challenge, and Greensboro Country Club is not immune to these trends. While it may at times appear that turnover is high, we are pleased to share that our overall staff retention has improved significantly compared to previous years. Our management team continues to grow stronger, and we regularly introduce new leaders through Club communications to help you get to know the faces behind our service.
Seasonal shifts in our hourly staff are common, especially as students transition between semesters, internships, and summer opportunities. Many of our team members return each year, while others join us temporarily during breaks from school. Regardless of their time with us, our commitment to consistent training and service excellence remains steadfast. We sincerely thank all of you who have taken the time to complete our member surveys—your feedback is invaluable and plays a crucial role in guiding our ongoing staff education and improvement efforts.
This July, we are excited to begin the long-anticipated renovation of our Irving Park Ballroom. A carefully coordinated schedule of contractors is in place to efficiently complete the installation of a new dance floor, carpeting, shutters, fresh paint and other enhancements. As one of the most utilized spaces at the Club—with over 20 weddings booked this year alone, in addition to a wide variety
of Member and private events—we are committed to ensuring our Ballroom remains the premier event destination in the Triad.
Our newly assembled Events team is working diligently to meet high demand, and availability for fall is already extremely limited as holiday parties and Member-hosted company events begin to fill the calendar. Looking ahead, bookings for 2026 are already trending strong. As we begin planning next year’s budget, all indicators point to yet another exceptional—and possibly record-breaking— year for events at GCC.
Summer at GCC wouldn’t be complete without the energy and excitement of our Blue Dolphins Swim Team. With over 120 member children participating this season, the enthusiasm and team spirit have been truly inspiring. We extend our sincere thanks to the many swim team parent volunteers whose support is vital to every meet and practice, as well as to our dedicated Swim Team Committee and Head Coach Boone Redding for their tireless efforts and leadership. The season is fast-paced—just six weeks long—kicking off in early June and culminating in the highly anticipated City Meet at the Greensboro Aquatic Center on the second weekend of July. Throughout the season, the Blue Dolphins compete with fellow clubs including Lawndale, Starmount Forest, High Point Elks, Grandover and Forest Oaks. We are proud of our swimmers and grateful for the sense of community they bring to the Club each summer. Go Blue Dolphins!
As the summer season reaches its peak, our senior leadership and Finance Committee are already looking ahead—diligently working on the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. With our financial year running from October 1 through September 30, we are now entering the final stretch of our current cycle. Like many private clubs, Greensboro Country Club operates under a distinct business model, one that places long-term sustainability and Member experience at the heart of every decision.
As a Member-owned Club, every stockholding Member holds a stake in GCC’s future. Our goal as your management team is to thoughtfully balance rising operating costs with fair and responsible pricing, always with the Member experience in mind. Whether through modest
