Matthew 28:1-6 (NIV) 1

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

2

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it.

3

His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.

4

The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 5

6

He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.

Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV) Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

9

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 10

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

from the the editor editor from

This month Christians all over the world are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We traced the steps and events that led to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Good Friday. We remembered the seven last utterances of Jesus from the cross. We told the story of how Jesus died on the cross on Friday, how he was buried in a borrowed tomb and how on the third day, early Sunday morning, he rose from the dead with all power in his hands. Christians declared that Jesus Christ got up from the grave with all power in his hands. Resurrection Sunday is a reminder to every believer that we also possess resurrection power. We call this the ‘Good News’ of Jesus Christ! As believers, can you imagine a life without Jesus? What would life be like if Jesus had not got up from the grave? It would be a life without hope. We would be most miserable. In the times of trouble we would not be able to go to the throne of God boldly with our petitions. And more important, we would not have Jesus sitting at the right hand of God as our intercessor pleading our case to the Almighty God. But, because he lives, we have hope and we have a peace that the world does not understand. But the story does not stop there. We as believers have the responsibility to keep the story alive. As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ there will be many who will not be celebrating because they are not aware of the ‘Good News’. It would be a shame if we as believers did not take this awesome opportunity to share the ‘Good News’ with non-believers. This is the perfect season to give those who are without hope a hope. This is the perfect time to let those who walk in darkness know that Jesus is the light of the world. Someone needs to know that Jesus came so that we would be able to live life victoriously. Someone needs to know today that Jesus is our Savior, and that today is their day of salvation. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

Jackie Epps Editor-in-Chief

No matter what happens in life or whatever knocks us off our feet, we have the power to get up again. We have resurrection power on the inside. Resurrection power can be seen in believers’ lives through their faith. The Bible tells us that faith in a believer’s life is “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1) In everyone’s life, there are things that we constantly hope for. We hope for better lives for our families, financial security, good health, etc. In fact, we live each day in some form of anticipation or hope. There is something that motivates us to believe for those things that we hope for. That something is our faith—it is our faith that motivates us each day to keep pressing forward reaching for our hopes and dreams. ‘Resurrection Sunday’ is the highest celebration in the Christian life. How awesome it would be to share the ‘Good News’ during this season with our brothers and sisters and see their lives be changed by the salvation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That would be a glorious ‘Resurrection Sunday’ for all! www.gracenglorymagazine.org  77 www.gracenglorymagazine.org

to your good health

A new season is among us. Spring brings with it leaves budding, flowers blooming, birds chirping, pollen spreading and rain showers falling. This newness is welcomed after a challenging winter where we witnessed an insurrection, Covid-19 deaths for the past year totaling a half million, and then more mass shootings across the country. We are in need of renewal and revival more than ever. The days are longer and the sunrise brings the dawning of the day and we begin to look forward to what the months ahead will bring. There is a spring ritual where everyone begins the cleaning process. We clean our homes, our workplaces, our yards, the storage bin and anything else that had been overgrown with dust, debris and junk. Our minds and spirits also need refreshing. Spring is a good time to get rid of our old ways of thinking, coping and living. It is time to rid ourselves of issues, relationships, jobs, and habits that hinder our growth and cause us to stay connected to our past and oftentimes our pain. Weeding our mental and spiritual lives will take

20   20   April April2021 2021| |Grace&Glory Grace&Glory

time and effort like becoming self-aware, making time for prayer, connecting with other believers, learning a new skill or exercising to build our strength. Spring-cleaning is not just seasonal but a lifelong process of renewal that we must intentionally pursue. Whatever we have been holding on to must be released. Facing the good and the unpleasant areas of our lives cannot be avoided. Holding on to the good and forgetting what is behind us is what is needed to make the most of this season and the next season. Do what is necessary so that this season of life can begin fresh. It won’t be easy to continue the growth process but it will be worth it. With that in mind, it is always a good time for spring-cleaning. Remember to throw Dr. Carla Debnam, Founder, Renaissance Christian out the old and embrace the new. Counseling Center

woman’s perspective

Years ago, when my second oldest daughter was in elementary school she was being bullied by a classmate. This classmate was considered the school's bully, and I became increasingly frustrated, because I thought the school wasn’t handling the situation very well at all. As the parent of the victim, I wanted that student-bully expelled; not just an in-school suspension. In true bully fashion, this particular child bothered everyone. My daughter didn’t do any harm to anyone. By nature she was so sweet, caring and kind. She had a delightful personality. She also had a disability that caused her to stand out. I felt that the school didn’t protect my child the way that they should have; they way that I expected them to. In my frustration I had a plan cooked up in my mind. I was going to have her cousin beat that little girl up. I know it wasn't the right course of action, but this was my honest thought birthed out of my frustration. I remember crying out to God asking, "Why is this happening to her, and how was I going to take care of the situation?" I was reminded of a scripture found in Ephesians 4:26, “Be angry, but sin not.” I kept hearing that scripture over and over, and the more I heard it the calmer I became. See, my frustration led to anger, which, if I gave in, was going to lead me to do something harmful. My quiet time went from asking God "why?" to telling God how I was going to handle it, to being convicted to repentance all within the same hour. I felt like a tiger whose job is to protect her cubs. However, I wasn’t thinking straight. My anger and frustration clouded my judgment. Once the little girl came back from her suspension, I chose to go a different route in my approach with her. Instead of having her beat up I talked with her. I asked her "Why?" In her words she thought my daughter was getting special treatment, and she thought it was unfair. She wanted my daughter to feel bad. She felt like everyone was protecting my daughter and that no one was protecting her. What we weren't aware of was that she was being bullied and beat up at home. At that moment I was so ashamed of my behavior and my thoughts. I vowed to help her feel loved and protected from that point on. She became my daughter's ally and friend all because she felt protected. The enemy wants us, God's children, to be frustrated and angry that we

miss out on the promise just like Moses. Don’t allow him to cause you to forfeit your promises. Frustration is usually from an outside source that causes an internal issue. Don’t allow frustration to cause you to miss the promise. Let it drive you to produce a change.

What is Frustration? Frustration- being upset or annoyed, especially because of the inability to change or achieve something. Frustration is also an issue of conflict. Frustration reveals opportunities. If you are frustrated by something that means that you are the one to fix it. The situation with my daughter and the bully presented an opportunity for me to minister to her and help protect her. Frustration can produce three things • Anger • Depression • Ambition Frustration is something that we all will face in life. Some of us may be experiencing some frustration right now with how the economy is being handled, with the Pandemic, with our job or with our family. The people that stormed the White House were frustrated. They were being misled, they thought something was being taken from them, and in their frustration they reacted. If we are honest, that's how we treat Christ, but that’s for another reflection! For an additional resource on how to handle frustration, you can find a series my husband preached on YouTube under TableTurner. This series was the reminder I needed to not live in a place of frustration and what the consequences are if I chose to let frustration brew unchecked. If I can leave you with one final thought it would be that you would not allow frustration to be the driver in your decision making. Make Your Mouth Manifest It: Say It to S.E.E. It

Make your mouth manifest your blessings! You have the capability to map out and manifest the desires of your heart and live out your purpose with what comes out of your mouth. Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21) and you have the power to decree, declare, pronounce, and proclaim your blessings. You have to say it to S.E.E. it! You have to open your mouth and S-speak the desires of your heart, E-expect God to back up your words, and God will not only fulfill your expectation but He will E-exceed it (Ephesians 3:20). Speak it, expect it, and watch God exceed your expectation. Speak your expectations into existence. God the Father and Jesus are two magnificent mentors that can encourage you that what you decree and declare out of your mouth must manifest. In the beginning, God the Father spoke creation into existence. He used His mouth to manifest and create Heaven, Earth, and all of creation (Genesis 1:1-26). Throughout the Bible, there are many manifestations of Jesus speaking healing, blessings, and even giving people a second chance at life. He spoke and healed the ten lepers (Luke 17:11-19). He spoke and raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11:39-43). He spoke and freed the woman caught in adultery from death and forgave her sins (John 8:1-11). In each instance, Jesus used His mouth to manifest healing, deliverance, and a new lot on life for many. Greater works will you do (John 14:12) when you make your mouth manifest your blessing and say it so you can see it. It is also fine for others to pronounce a blessing over you but it is up to you to come into agreement and declare it out of your mouth. Even if you call those things that are not as though they are (Romans 4:17), you can change situations with your speech. Say it so you can see it. The quickest way to do so is to speak it out of your mouth. It is not enough to believe it to be so. You have to manifest it with your mouth.

24   24   April April2021 2021| |Grace&Glory Grace&Glory

Expect to experience and manifest whatever you say out of your mouth. Have faith that God is going to hear your words and give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). A good place to start is speaking God’s word over your life. Make your mouth manifest all of the blessings God promises you in His word. Say what He says and you will see His glory manifested in your life. God’s word will not return to Him void but it will accomplish everything He set it out to do (Isaiah 55:11). Sometimes it is something as simple as speaking encouragement to yourself like King David. King David was down and depressed but he did not stay there. He encouraged himself (I Samuel 30:6) and went on to do great exploits. This type of cheering up most likely included him simply speaking positive affirmations to himself. Say it so you can see it. God told Moses, “Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water.” (Numbers 20:8). God wanted Moses to say it so the Israelites could see it but he chose to hit the rock instead (Numbers 20:8-11). God still made the miracle happen but because Moses did not fully obey the instruction, he made the Israelites miss a moment to see a miracle manifested by God just using the words of his mouth. Doing so even made him miss the opportunity to usher the Israelites into the Promised Land (Numbers 20:12). Don’t miss a moment to manifest a miracle by speaking it out of your mouth. Say it so you can see it. God can exceed your expectations (Ephesians 3:20). The moment you make your mouth manifest the desires of your heart, you give God the opportunity to show Himself strong and mighty in your life. All you have to do is speak it and then stand still and see the salvation of the Lord manifest in your life (Exodus 14:13). Speak what you want God to do for you. Expect to experience it. Even expect God to exceed your expectation (Ephesians 3:20). Say it so you can see it. When you do so, get ready for the biggest, best and bountiful blessings God has for you. ACCESS GRANTED Spring is in the air. Not only that, but we have officially completed the first quarter of 2021. As I was thinking about what I wanted to share with you, it is my sincere prayer that this new quarter will yield new opportunities for you. This morning I was looking at my vision board for 2021 and at the very top it says, “Access Granted!” I thought to myself, wow do you really understand how BIG that term means on a spiritual level? I had to sit on my bed and just gather myself. The Lord shared with me the term means, “Divine opportunities that no man can close or open!”

Some of you may find this to be odd but I repeat all throughout the day, “Access Granted!” I like to repeat it when I am walking, exercising, driving, and praying. I want whatever weeds or stony ground that was meant to cause me pain or disappointment to be put under my feet by affirming who I am in Christ Jesus. Jesus paid the ultimate price so that we may have access to abundant life. Even when we as Christians are tested and tried, we still come out as pure gold. Access has been granted not only for us to prevail but also pursue.

In this new season and quarter of your life may access be granted unto you in Jesus Name. May divine opportunities be your fatten portion in Jesus Name. May you sit in high places that no man could ever make happen for you in Jesus Name. May the Lord make your name great in this new quarter of your life in Jesus Name. May the doors that are closed only create bigger doors for your purpose and destiny in Jesus Name.

This is not the season for you to hide under a rock or wander in the wilderness. When access has been granted unto you, that means its time to SHOW UP! It is time to take ownership and possess the land. I hope that this message is not just fueling you emotionally, but I pray you have a made-up mind that the resurrection power in Christ now dwells in you! Stop thinking you are weak when you are strong! Stop thinking you are poor when you are rich! Remember, “And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.” (Romans 8:30)

I truly believe that in this new quarter Covid 19 can not stop you. No sickness or disease can hold you back. No self-affliction of unforgiveness and rejection can keep you down. The best part is you will not fail when the opportunity is opened unto you. I believe that you have prepared yourself and your spirit. Let the resurrection of our Lord and Savior rise in you with boldness and confidence.

ACCESS GRANTED! Live life on the promise of IMPACT!

health matters

PROSTATE HEALTH Prostate health is a concern for many men. As men age, the prostate gland may become enlarged and cause unpleasant symptoms. What is the function of the prostate gland? Why does it enlarge? What can men do about prostate symptoms? The prostate gland is a small, rubbery organ about the size of a walnut. It sits between the bladder and the penis, just in front of the rectum. The urethra which directs urine from the bladder to the outside of the body runs through the center of the prostate. The prostate is not essential for life, but it is important for reproduction. The prostate secretes fluid that nourishes and protects sperm. During ejaculation, the prostate squeezes this fluid into the urethra and it’s expelled with sperm as semen. The prostate may begin to grow in size after the age of 40. This condition called benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH is present in 20% of men in their fifties, 60% of men in their sixties, and 70% of men by age 70. In BPH, there is an overgrowth of prostate tissue that pushes against the urethra and the bladder. This blocks the flow of urine causing hesitancy and dribbling in the urinary stream. Other symptoms of BPH include the urgent feeling of needing to urinate and frequent urination that may interrupt sleep at night and having difficulty starting a urinary stream. Men can be reassured that BPH is not cancer. Studies show that having BPH doesn’t mean a man is more or less likely to get prostate cancer. BPH is treatable with medications that relax the urinary sphincter and that will shrink the prostate. Surgical intervention may include removal of the prostate. Prostate cancer occurs when the cells of the prostate become abnormal. Prostate cancer is unique in that the malignancy may grow slowly and not spread to other organs for many years. African-American men are more likely to develop more advanced stages of prostate cancer than men of other races. Black men are more likely to die from prostate cancer than white men. Signs and symptoms of prostate cancer are similar to the symptoms of BPH. Blood in the urine and discomfort

when sitting because of an enlarged prostate can also occur with prostate cancer. Prostate cancer cells may spread to the bone. The enlarged prostate can obstruct the colon and cause a change in bowel habits. Prostate screening studies are essential to maintaining health in men. Similar diagnostic screenings can be used for BPH and prostate cancer. Digital rectal examination (DRE) is a test in which the doctor inserts a gloved, lubricated finger into the rectum and feels the surface of the prostate through the bowel wall for any irregularities. It is indeed unpleasant. However, an enlarged prostate in BPH can be felt. And, the cancerous prostate will feel nodular and hard. Using the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test to screen for prostate cancer is controversial. Some sources say the PSA test is useful for detecting early-stage prostate cancer, especially in those with many risk factors. However, PSA screening may find very-slow-growing prostate cancers that would never threaten someone's life, resulting in unnecessary treatment. Benign prostatic growth is treated with medications that shrink and relax the prostate to take the pressure off the urethra and bladder. These medicines help to reduce the urinary symptoms that are caused by prostate enlargement. Limit the amount of fluids taken in the evening to reduce nighttime urination. Reduce alcohol and caffeine intake which stimulates the bladder. Surgical removal of the prostate is recommended when other treatments are not helpful when a benign growth is significantly enlarged or for advancing stages of prostate cancer. Keeping a watchful eye on the slowed growth of the prostate is the recommended initial treatment for prostate cancer. Follow-up radiation, hormonal treatments, and chemotherapy are used after the surgical removal of a cancerous prostate. Men are encouraged to have conversations with their physicians about prostate health when they are in their 40’s. Open discussions about prostate symptoms and undergoing DRE can detect prostate problems early. Early detection can reduce future prostate complications.

THINK AND GROW FIT

What You Believe About Yourself Is Powerful! For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. – Proverbs 23:7 Do you know the people you talk to the most everyday can alter your thoughts? It may be a friend, close relative or even a well-meaning co-worker that can impact your life. During your childhood, your parents had major influence on your thought process; some good, some bad because of family tradition. Also, social media is another influential force that can change the way you think with so many different viewpoints. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2 However, none of these examples are more dangerous than that little voice you listen to inside constantly. Thinking positive thoughts takes a controlled and disciplined mind. The secret to living a healthy life is believing in your success before you see it. No matter your current situation, you have to believe you can be healthy and disease free right now, before the physical manifestation. As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7

Most people forget this important step. They try to change external conditions by working directly on those conditions, but this almost always proves to be temporary. Train your conscious mind to think thoughts of success, happiness, health, and prosperity. Learn to cast out negativity such as fear, doubt and indecision. Keep your mind busy with the expectation of the best, and make sure the thoughts you habitually think are based upon what you want in your life. Finally, brother and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things. Philippians 4:8

So if you want to lose weight or reverse a sickness in your body, believe that you are whole and healthy first. Friends and family are going to try to steal your dreams and often times it’s the people closest to you that will discourage you. Just when you make up your mind to finally start eating better and exercise, someone will convince you not to for various reasons. It’s important to keep your goals to yourself without letting anyone sidetrack you. Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23 Most people go through life taking little notice of their thought process: how they think, what they fear, how thoughts can sabotage you if you pay attention to them. We go through life neglecting one of the most important and powerful forces in our life: our thoughts. What you focus on the most you will manifest it in your life. Our minds are directing our thoughts towards a desired outcome. Focus on healthy living and you will start to see your habits and body change. Focus on what you currently see and you will continue getting the same results. Our thoughts are the primary creative forces in our life, use them consciously and you will awaken yourself to a whole new life of positivity and opportunities. In order to make changes in your life, you must change the way you use you thoughts. You cannot think both a negative and positive thought at the same time, as one will always dominate the other. As humans, we are creatures of habit, and so are our minds. To change your outer body, you must change your internal thoughts.
