IGNITE EXCELLENCE: CREATIVE ARTS OPPORTUNITIES
At Grace Lutheran College the Creative Arts offer a suite of co-curricular opportunities to students from Year 7 - 12. These opportunities allow students to develop a growing love for creative arts including Visual Art, Media, and Film and Television. Students are able to enrich their learning experiences beyond the classroom to experience new methods, mediums and practices which allows them to extend their skills. The opportunities also allow students to engage in experiences through workshops with artists and filmmakers; and build networks through partnerships with outside organizations by entering work into competitions and exhibitions.
The Art and Film Masterclasses are afterschool opportunities open to students who are looking to deepen their skills and understanding of practices in their chosen creative field. In Art Masterclass students in Year 8-12 will engage in Term-long projects that will be exhibited at our end of Semester showcases. In Film Masterclass students in Year 7-12 will thoroughly explore a new topic each week that will expand their skill as a film maker and support their understanding of moving image media languages and conventions. These masterclasses meet each week.
In Year 11, students can select to be involved in Film Crew as part of the Connections Program. Film Crew students use professional film and audio production equipment to create video content that promotes and documents school events. Students work closely with the Community Engagement and Marketing Department to create professional content that is used in our community.
The Young Creator’s Club is a lunchtime co-curricular opportunity, run by our Creative Arts Captains and staff, for students in Year 7-9. Each week students have the opportunity to engage in an art and/or media-based workshop, such as making clay pots, filming with the green screen, and badge/print making. Students are also welcome to attend and have studio time in our specialist art spaces or editing suites where they can work on their own creative projects with the support and guidance of senior students.projects with the support and guidance of senior students.
