HINTS & TIPS
WHEN STARTING AT GRACE

• Folders are great for organisation. Folders can help to keep your notebook, textbook, sleeves for loose sheets of paper and any other subject requirements in the one place for each subject.
• Record your homework and assessments in your student diary.
• Keep your ID card in an accessible place - in the back of your student diary there is a place for this.
• Colour code your timetable and make copies - one for school, one for home, one for your locker - whatever works best for you.
• Write down your computer login details and your locker combination in a safe but easily accessible place (you will get these on your first day).
• Practise your locker combination (you will get this on your first day).
• Arrive a little earlier on the first day to allow for some incidental conversations and getting to know each other before the day starts while sitting in your House group.
• Homework expectations are much greater in high school than primary school, be prepared to do schoolwork at home.
• Time management skills are important. Learning to balance your school commitments and co-curricular commitments will be an important skill to learn.
• Get involved in co-curricular activities, this is a great way to build friendships.
• Develop a habit to read the daily notices and your emails every day so you know what is going on at school.
• Health Centre staff are warm and friendly people who care for the whole person.
• Staff at Student Services help you feel comfortable in asking questions or seeking help.

GRIT MEANS PERSEVERANCE WITH ALL TASKS FROM THE MUNDANE TO THE VERY DIFFICULT. WHEN WE PRACTICE GRIT WE ATTEMPT NEW CHALLENGES AND COMPLETE ALL TASKS TO THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE STANDARD.
ROMANS 5:3-5
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
